A good mate of mine was asking me if there was anywhere playing Blackpool Mecca stuff, particularly from the 1976-1978 era, any info would be appreciated, especially North East area as he is keen to visit suitable venues

Steve Plumb runs a do called Oh So Soulful 70s or something like that which is probably what you're looking for. It's in the Leyland area I think.

You will need to forgive my ignorance but I was still at school in the late 70's so I missed the experience.

There is a "Mecca Memories" night at The Samlesbury Hotel (Preston) on November 22nd.

 

DJs Colin Curtis, Pete Haigh, Steve Naylor & Andy Lett - the music is the post Northern era - 1975-77/78 & focuses on the Disco & Jazz Funk tunes played there.

 

This is an annual event - we are now in our fifth year & the previous four have been brilliant !!!
