Just watched an old Dennis Hopper film from 1967 called Glory Stompers and to my pleasant surprise, this instrumental track popped up towards the end.  Can anyone tell me what it is?  I found the soundtrack for the film, but this track doesn't appear to be on it.

It's unlike anything else in the film. And it's not on the soundtrack LP, which contains mostly fuzz guitar tracks by the likes of Davie Allen and the Arrows and Max Frost and his Troopers. Mike Curb is credited on the film score, but I'm not familiar with most of his output. Was hoping someone would say "oh that's the backing track to..."

To my ears, it's certainly got the right sound to have been spun at a northern venue, if it was ever released. And it certainly sounds good enough to have been released.

According to the film soundtrack quite a few of the track were written by Harley hatcher so more than likely something by him think he was a piano player. 

I saw his name on the LP credits, but dismissed the idea of his being the writer based on the fact that the song was so different from the others. But now that you mention it, I guess he may have been involved. I've just sent an email to someone via his website to see if they recognize the track.

I wouldn't dismiss it being Mike Curb though. Behind all that choral stuff he did with Congregation there are some really nicely orchestrated pieces of music with beats. Some of his stuff reminds me of Charles Stepney. Given that he also made garage, surf and psychedelic sounding records as well, it's certainly not beyond him to have produced that track.
