Hi, can someone please help?
I have aquired 2 copies of Rufus Lumley - I'm standing, both on the 'Holton' label.
Both labels are a different lay out, one has the matrix number in small text and has the runout scratched in 'SY4M 6588',
and the other copy has the matrix number in larger text and then the info in smaller text, and SKUM-6588 on the run out and 'A1' twice.
What is the difference between the 2 does anyone know?

  •   Booted by 2 different people.

  • I would think that this is a poor attempt to counterfeit then. The original is stamped and there should also be a stamped "R"

If the matrix is scratched it's a counterfeit if it is stamped an original. According to Manship's guide that is.

No reference in Manships book to a SKUM no. only a SK4M-6588 stamped one. Are you sure the U is not a scratched 4?

I don't remember this being booted twice, have a real good check of the darker red one's run off

This has been VERY difficult to photograph as its a feint scratch, but yes it's definitely a 'U' not a '4'

Original also has an upside down capitol R  stamped in the runout.

Not to worry, get it on Ebay if your lucky it may attract an idiot!

Pete I always thought once in the 70 and then again in the 90s. The 70s one looking more like the original.

Pete, by the darker red one, which do you mean? the one with the round sticker on or the one without?

Original is a very rich/deep red & proper black. The 70s boot is wishy-washy in colour compared to it.

The one with the sticker on is that Red and the other wishy washy. I'll keep the one with the sticker on I think

So is the verdict that both of mine are boots, and booted by different bootleggers?

Definitely not originals.

Do both labels look like proper labels?.......what I mean is, not photocopied A4 cut-outs and stuck on with pritt or something?

Edited....cos sometimes i`m an illiterate bastard and I don`t check my typing!  :)

But you are a Claret supporter so you are excused this time.

Both proper labels deffo, but one (the one without the sticker) is fairly faded compared to the other, the other is a rich red colour with no fading.

Don't you wish you'd have got British?
