can anyone recommend an insurer who will insure my records whilst temporarily away from home.I have house ins with Swinton/axa, and had specified £4000 cover for records whilst away from home.When i enquired to increase this amount Axa then declined to cover even the £4000. Has anyone managed to find a totally separate cover( from house contents) just to cover their records? Any help would be appreciated...

i had a look at their website but if you dj (even occasionally) and therefore take some of the collection out to an event then they wont insure you, which is what i am looking for - can anyone help ?

I have mine insured through Home & Legacy for a reasonably large sum. It covers all eventualities including DJing. It's not cheap though.

Thanks Phild. I spoke to them and they said yes can include record collection in house contents and would be covered outside the home e.g. taking to a mates house but not for dj'ing. Also advised that in the event of a claim should have  afull inventory listing, ideally with receipts for all of them &/or take picture of them all to prove ownership, confirmation of values.  So much more helpful than our current insurer but still seems to be a problem for dj'ing even though I explained it wasn't a business, just occasional events.
