Just got done viewing a YouTube video of "She Put the Hurt on Me" by Trade Martin, and I couldn't help but notice that Jimmy Roach co-wrote the tune. This begs the question...are there any other versions of the tune besides Trade's and the Shirelles' version ("You Could Be My Remedy"). I'm assuming that, since Jimmy got around a lot in those days, that there was some other artist he worked for who cut the song.

What's really odd...I unfriended Trade on Facebook due to some comments he made that seemed somewhat racist. Around the same time, I added Jimmy as a friend! And here is a record with both their names on it!

Best,

Mark

  • The one I was thinking of was the Luvs on Stallion. The backing track is similar, but not identical.

Original Prince La La version is great in that loose New Orleans early R&B way.

Spencer Davis Group and Otis Redding both did strong versions too.

Different songs aren't they with different writers?

There was a similar girl group song that also came out on Stallion. Can't remember the name at the moment:huh:

Otis's version is yet another different song with the same title. Spencer's is a remake of Prince La La.
