I like the big drama soul of Roy Hamilton and I'm searching a bit further than the big hits. Looking him up on Discogs I find 18 compilations and 18 original albums. That's a lot to wade through - spirituals, easy listening standards before you get to the soul goodies.  Anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks

He didn’t record for that many lables ,but his output was quite varied and vast. As for Northern related tunes, you probably won’t have to look much further than MGM,RCA and a couple on Epic(including some great R&R tunes)........

For his 60s MGM tracks try the CD "Warm Soul" on Poker DECKCD104, includes The Panic Is On and You Can Count On Me.

RCA and his final AGP tracks are on the CD "Tore Up" from Shout ,number SHOUT 44. includes the northern tracks and some superb deep soul recordings, an essential CD as it would be hard to get all the singles .

Both these were on Cherry Red distributed labels but are deleted now so you may have to search around a bit.
