A while back, I got an endless amount of help from soul sourcers digging up hot r&b stuff to start peppering into my sets. (More like hot sauce than pepper, I guess.)
That's been going down a storm, not to mention that I love it myself. Lot of great suggestions, some of which I've even been able to dig up.
How about this, then: I've seen a few suggestions for Sonny Boy Williamson, John Lee Hooker, and others that I'd think of as "blues" artists, and that's got me intrigued - "Help Me" by Sonny Boy is one of my all-time favorite songs of any genre, and I might try that one next week when I DJ.
What other stuff are you r&b fiends spinning these days by some of those classic 'blues' artistes? Anyone for Sonny Terry/Brownie McGhee?
