Just a friendly reminder to everyone to help our Feathered,Fury, and Prickly friends with a welcome supply of cool fresh water during this Hot weather and what is on the Horizon this coming weekend, even a bowl or dish of water out front if able to do so for friends and neighbours who may be out Dog walking, i'm sure those Dogs would find it most welcome, thank you in anticipation, Rick 🙂

No pets in cars, unless you are literally driving to the vets in an emergency

No walkies, if the pavement feels warm to your hand, it’s red hot to paws (which is one of the few way they can lose heat through)

Sun screen, especially to snouts and ears

We always put ice cubes in the water bowl - or use water from the fridge 👍🏻👍🏻

And not forgetting garden birds ,water evaporates ever so quickly in this heat.

high calorific food for the birds (apples are good) fresh water and  don't forget to keep it ice free.

no walking the dog on gritted / salted surfaces -very harsh on their paws

if you do ever find a hedgehog out of hibernation - tinned pet food not milk!

Also Keep Checking your Water bowls that will be iced over as Birds and Animals need a drink and birds still like to bathe even in this freezing cold weather to keep their feather in tip top condition (rather them than me brrr)

Remember seeing some where that if you put small plastic balls to float in with your water it helps to prevent it freezing, now i've never tried this, so don't know if it works, would be interested if anyone else heard this and tried it and what the out come was?

Only works if the balls/water are moving if floating around. If perfectly still water it doesn't work, will freeze as tried this a couple of years ago with 3 ping pong balls - froze solid.

We used to have heavy rubber ball..even in hard frosts it shouldn't lift with ice.
