I have to point this out

John has a copy of this on his auction this week - its a great and fantastic rare tune on both labels - poor me is a mega tune

But why is he pitching the b side ?

Its not my copy - but if it were I would be seriously pissed off that he is not focusing on the ace side

The boring side is even the first side you hear on the john manship sound file

Very odd

played out and loud this one is a serious and unknown soul 45

perhaps its johns new thing focusing on the b sides? )

Sorry John I had to point his out

Its a rare 45 that has hardly been played

If records like this get played again I might even venture out again

I prefer the poor boy side but then I am into the more crossover style than the other side which seems to fit more the nighter style of sound

I’ll point out for balance that I prefer “I got her love” which was the side that received attention in the past.

I have it on both labels and don’t recall if there is a difference in mix at all on either side ? Just wondering why a two label release ?

I quite like the I got love side

I snagged my copy off Tim brown about 15 years ago

It’s a great 45

I like it but found every time it was played out it did little on the dancefloor. Just one of them good records that never seems to really fly with the punters. There’s a few of them like that and it’s a shame as they are often good records.

Well I think whoever snagged that copy of man ships auction this week had a bargain

It’s a fantastic tune imo

From memory this sold for £265 ?

Based on last two recorded sales on Gripsweat it was a good price (for the owner/Manship). https://gripsweat.com/search/?query=turf+tydell&button=

Both those copies were promos. Both came the Baltimore area gospel DJ estate file find in the fall of 2023 which I think was an important find. From the description they maybe were not quite as minty as most of the other records in that haul but at least one had a date written on the label which to my mind would have added to the desirability in this case.

I reckon it’s a great tune, just needs a bit of a push by the DJs as it’s a great dancer

It’s not an easy 45 in my opinion

Another great overlooked tune

perhaps DJs should do what Keb used to do , shout and swear at the crowd 😂
