At the moment.. 'This Poor Heart of Mine'. Always think 'I Can't Believe...' sounds like her solo version with Marvin's vocals "stuck on", as they allegedly did do with some of the later duets...

fantastic pairing, Marv an Tammi.

two that gets to me are.....

"If This World Were Mine"

"Hold Me Oh My Darling"

Steve

As told to me at Christmas by Ludi Montgomery(Tammi's sister), Marvin rarely recorded on the same day as TT. The reason being Marv's wife was convinced they were lovers! In fact they were not, David Ruffin was Tam's boyfriend.

And contrary to reports, Tammi has no connection to boxer Ernie Terrell. Her star surname was given to her by Berry Gordy after knowing Jean Terrell.

Yes This Poor Heart of Mine is excellent.

Re your other point,

does anyone have definitive info on which tracks Tammi didn't sing on??

I believe that it was most of the United lp and that the singer was actually Valerie Simpson.

Anyone know for sure?

Tony

I've got no definitive answer to your question about which cuts feature Valerie Simpson, but I've for a long time been led to believe she is the vocalist on most of the "Easy" lp: "The Onion Song", "California Soul", etc.
