Apologies if this has already been posted but I was reading about Joe Pesci's career the other day and it turns out that after returning to New York from an initial failed (acting) LA trip, and before he opened his NY restaurant, he played lead guitar for Joey Dee & The Starlighters.

He made quite a few records in the 60s, too. He was Little Joe on Brunswick and Jonathan Marcus on MGM, for instance. None of them are much good, really, as he's a better actor than he was a singer...

And he features in Jersey Boys in a minor role as the guy who introduced Bob Gaudio, the brilliant songwriter, to the original group.

The most famous lineup of Joey Dee and The Starliters is considered to be Joey Dee, David Brigati, Larry Vernieri (vocals), Carlton Lattimore (organ), and Willie Davis (drums) ........

Later members of the touring group would include Eddie Brigati (David's brother), Gene Cornish , and Felix Cavaliere - three quarters of The Young Rascals - as well as guitarist Jimmy James ( later known as Jimi Hendrix ) and Charles Neville of The Neville Brothers .......

Wasn't he involved in one of those New York mid 70's Soul/Disco labels? Mainstream, IX Chains, Vigor, Fast Track or something like that? Or have i dreamt it?

Jimmy Mayes (solo artist and leader of Mill Street Depo) also played drums for Joey Dee and the Starlighters, he was in the group with Jimi Hendrix, he has a bunch of photos of the lineup actually.

Ha ha! That made me laugh out loud! Goodfellas is one of my all time fave films (and My Cousin Vinnie) ....I love Pesci in that infamous "pen in the face/eyes" scene....now I find out he has soulful connections, I'm even more of a Pesci-ette!
