September 3, 200816 yr Bit of a minefield there I think, there's the styrene bootleg which is easy to spot and there was a thick vinyl bootleg sold as an original, but there's also a very very good counterfeit as well (probably has pb scratched into the run off). I don't think I've ever seen a bona-fide original.
September 3, 200816 yr Yikes on JM how much is that going for? How do you spot a bootleg? Thanks P (Sorry if this has been done already) An original Anderson Brothers is a very hard record to find Bootlegs had either a raised ridge just before the centre hole or in styrene with incorrect delta number On the original matrix should read--GSFS1179--With a small matrix mark on both sides that looks like an l in a 3/4 circle (and is vinyl not styrene) What will it make?..750-1000 Edited September 3, 200816 yr by john parker
September 3, 200816 yr Oh yes as Pete said there is one with PB scratched in as with the fake George Blackwell etc
September 3, 200816 yr Oh yes as Pete said there is one with PB scratched in as with the fake George Blackwell etc Thanks for that. Ive got plenty of scratches on mine, PB scratched in and out again! And its Styrene, so I cant put that to my holiday in the Sun!! Thanks again P
September 3, 200816 yr Also the the original has a more mate finish to the label, boots has a gloss finish, looking at the other mark mentioned before, it looks more like a 'L' in a 3/4 circle. The scratched in matrix reads GSFS 1179 on one side and GSFM (N80-scratched through) 1179 on the flip run out. The S & M for the mono/stereo sides
September 3, 200816 yr Finished on JM for £990 tionight Thanks evryone, I can't complain, it only cost me 75p at the time, but you can dream for 5 mins can't you!! Still like it, and it looks good. P

The S & M for the mono/stereo sides Just posted the info below on JM auction thread then spotted this thread, so i've posted it again- Best way to tell the Anderson Bros is to make sure the mono side is actually mono! It definitely sounds different to the Stereo mix and is only on the original. I always play the Mono side out........keeps the Soul Police away Cheers Steve
September 4, 200816 yr I had an original in my hand about 3 months ago, it was priced at £180 !! was about VG++, trying to think where it was so i can chase it again pdq Ian.

September 4, 200816 yr Think this is the pressing, has PB and Mick Viggam in run out groove. plays mono on Bside.
September 4, 200816 yr Think this is the pressing, has PB and Mick Viggam in run out groove. plays mono on Bside. Didn't realise the PB boot played Mono..............best cancel what I said above then
September 4, 200816 yr Think this is the pressing, has PB and Mick Viggam in run out groove. plays mono on Bside. Theres another variation of this -it's got a dip going down towards the middle, I remember buying it from Max's in 76 - 8 quid!!! I thought it was an original. Pretty sure it was mono / stereo There's also the much more common styrene pressing obviously.
Yikes on JM how much is that going for?
How do you spot a bootleg/counterfeit?
