BBC Radio Cambridgeshire's 'soul-man' Ian Gray will be marking the 35th anniversary of the legendary Wigan Casino Soul Club with special guest local soul DJ and collector Paul Donnelly next Tuesday (23rd September) at 1800hrs UK time.
Hear how the Cambridgeshire crowd in the 1970s saw it including an interview with Peterborough lad Danny Daniels who won the Casino dance competition in 1975, Macca who now lives in Spain and travelled to many nighters at Station Road. How the DJs of the time played it (interview with Richard Searling) and the real atmosphere captured with a live recording from the Casino circa August 1974. Paul will be playing 10 of his all time Casino records and telling us some stories from this truly legendary underground UK soul music venue.
