I'm sure Chalky mentioned that there were two different matrix numbers for Ruby on Gold Token - well I just got one with the matrix x-4353 and to be honest it's blown my mind. Having heard this on 3 or 4 originals on Gold Token, off the inferior Take 6 release, off the bootleg and also the CD - couldn't believe my ears when I heard this one. Feminine Ingenuity has a completely different string arrangement and way heavier bass, and sounds like a different vocal. Deceived is a completely different vocal, and much better, sold backing - and again, with different strings.
No books seem to price this any differently to the other version but it must be rarer - I didn't even know it existed.
p.s. I went to pick up over 100 goodies today - Deadbeats, L Allen, an almost complete Thelma collection, Soulmasters, Debonairs, Carol Frederick, Daisy Burris, Seven Souls, blimey it's been a long time since I've seen records like this. Will start listing them early next week.
