when people say its a "cheapie" :D ...............

what in your opinion constitutes a cheap record, if it less than say £5, £10, £20, or £50? :D

or, at what stage would you describe a record as expensive :D

or dose it matter when you just "have to have it"

Depends on how much ££ you have, I suppose. To a multi millionaire £1.5m for a painting is cheap. If you can only afford to spend £100 on a record, then £100 is expensive, £15 is cheap. Unless you get a £300 record for your £100, then it's cheap! :D This is one of those questions that have a hundred different answers from a 100 different people, all correct in their own way!

Suppose a cheapie is £20 or less IMO...way I see it...if you went out for a drink with £20 came home skint and bladdered you'd think it was a cheap night...if you went out with £50 came home skint and bladdered you wouldn't think...'Oh...I had a cheap night last night'

Ridiculous reasoning I know but it makes sense in my head anyway

£5 or less is cheap to me, £10 - £20 is about average, i'd have to really want it bad to pay £50 or more. Mind you, that's thesedays, i used to spend a lot more but now i enjoy buying cheaper quality stuff because usually they are underplayed or rarely known.

I think 'expensive' on the other hand is relative to the rarity and popularity of the record, £2k for the Magnetics for example isn't expensive, but it is for more common 45s.

i'm probably with you on this one

cheap = 95% of my collection

expensive = 95% of everyone elses collection

:D

This is the old confusion between price and value.

If the price is a good deal less than the value then a record is cheap

A 20 quid record costs less than a 50 quid record but it doesn't follow that it is cheaper.

for me these days i'd say less than £50 is cheap ..... £100 ish is about the average and anything over £300 is expensive

for me these days i'd say less than £50 is cheap ..... £100 ish is about the average and anything over £300 is expensive

Seems we share similar wallets...:lol:

you'd also be a bit of a lightweight.

20 quid only buys about 5 or 6 pints these days its outrageous.

probably about 3 pints in scandanavia.
