Two Brand New 45's For 2007

Recommended Posts

Just received the first two releases from Paul Mooney's new venture 'Selecta Records' and felt that it was worth shouting about them :-)

I believe the songs on both 45's were made in 2006 and are now released in 2007 on 45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They've been around on CD but it's nice to finally have them on our fave format - vinyl :-)

Sheba Potts Wright (SSP 8001) - is a killer double sider - 'I just can't walk away' is an answer version to David Ruffin's classic 'Walk away from love' and is a very tasty little mover indeed. T'other side 'Just for the night' is also a tasty mid tempo dancer, the bass line of which reminds me of The Floaters 'Float on' - Both sides find Sheba in fantastic vocal form! In my opinion, this is a lovely double sider to kick off the label and hopefully will continue to be played at many quality Soul venues in 2007.

Bobby Hutton (SSP 8002) - The Chicago Soul legend returns with this very soulful lilter - as above, this has been played by descerning DJ's over the last few months and deserves to sell well! Great lyrics with a great feel and Bobby is still in great vocal form after all these years :-)

Keep up the good work Paul - let's hope you're rewarded with the sales you deserve :-)

I'm also looking forward to the launch of his sister label 'Shotgun Records' which will release older Soul product on 45's - I'm presuming many of these releases will be either first time on vinyl or even previously unreleased tracks from many top artists - I'm sure Paul will let us know if it's any different?

Cheers

Hello,

I'm glad you like the new singles.

That bass line sounds more like "Let's Make A Baby" to me ...at a faster tempo of course.

But if it reminds you of "Float On", Steve, that's okay with me!

Have to agree with Steve P on the Bobby Hutton track, miss & you'll regret it

Paul's service on sending out the singles is spot on, bought the Hutton promo on a Monday and was playing it the following day, fab :wicked:

Just had a listen to the clips on the website and both are great tracks. Where do you buy them from though? Had a look at through the site but couldn't see anywhere you can order them...of course I might just be dim and missed it  What price are they as well?

Once again Paul Mooney is at the forfront of new releases, the stuff that he's released over the years is head and shoulders above a lot of other put out,and he has the artists wellfare at heart aswell (not like a few others we could all mention)

Try sending a pm to Paul for more information on how to purchase the records.
