Will Northern Soul the movie spark a cultural revival? - It’s a week to go until Northern Soul, the movie about the 1970s British dance craze, hits the cinemas — and something unusual is happening. There is a mass social media based “thing” going on. Having started out planning to show the movie at a few selected cinemas, and for a short run, cinemas have been deluged with requests — indeed campaigns — to show it all over Britain. As things stand, when it comes out next Friday, the film will, say its backers, be the “widest-ever short-window feature film release”. Some 125 cinemas are set to screen the film — including one where the entire cinema has been booked out by a single person, and the tickets simply distributed among his friends. More are being added through “ourscreen” — crowd-funded showings organised by cinema goers... malc and others , if want to suggest or comment on site stuff then its always best if use the support forum rather than tack it on posts, as we don't see every post/thread/suggestion on this from a site angle I don't think pinning is best suited pinning is usually used for more static site related type threads/posts active threads don't usually need pinning as with them being active they are already fairly visible thanks mike

Perhaps the most riveting section of the exhibit is the huge video screen running clips from two pioneering television programs. Night Train premiered in 1964 as one of the first music series to feature an all-black cast. Produced in Nashville at WLAC-TV, Night Train predates the Chicago-based Soul Train by five years. The clip at the Hall of Fame shows a pre-psychedelic Jimi Hendrix swaggering in a backing band for what is believed to be his very first TV appearance. In 1966, Nashville's TV studios still didn't have the equipment needed to produce programs in color. As a result, Show Biz Inc., which syndicated the Wilburn Brothers and Porter Wagoner's country TV shows, took WLAC disc jockey Hoss Allen and an entire cast of Nashville musicians to Houston to produce The!!!! Beat, an all-too-brief series that featured national acts such as Otis Redding, Freddy King and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. Night Train was produced in Nashville from TV station WLAC Channel 5 and aired from 1964 - 1967. The show was hosted by Noble Blackwell. On this edition we have the talents of Buddy and Stacey, Jimmy Church, The Avons, Spidels, Tony Clarke, Pamela Releford and several other acts. The picture & sound quality are a bit rough on this one but I know you'll enjoy the program. Site Note: Below added 20 Dec 2023, via an email from family Noble Blackwell was more than the HOST of Night Train Late Night TV Shows. He was the creator, producer under his own production company Noble Blackwell Productions, Inc. He sold the advertisement, wrote the copy and appeared in the commercial from 1964-1967 during the Jim Crow before Civil Rights. Not to mention the show was also syndicated by Viacom seen throughout the US and Abroad.

Their sole release for M-Pac! eventually caught on in the Northern Soul scene and today copies sell for hundreds of dollars. Adding to the group’s lore, two acetates with the unreleased tracks “All of My Life” and “This Is Goodbye” surfaced in the UK in the 1980s becoming holy grails of sorts, and cementing the Ringleaders as Northern Soul heavyweights. Presented here for the first time are two additional unissued tracks from The Ringleaders. Eight months after their first release, the Ringleaders recorded “Grin And Bare It” and the following month, January of 1967, they tracked “I’ve Got To Find My Baby” in their final session for the Leaners. Although these are unreleased tracks, we have faithfully reproduced the M-Pac! label to pay homage to how they would have looked had they been released in 1967.
