Jackie Wilson Leads To Shrine - The Full Story
mention of Jackie Wilson and Jimmy Armstrong brought this lengthy article by Andy Rix into mind, its the in full version (before editing) written for the first kent cd release , and was one of those soul source "first time out in public exclusives" that used to get article can be found in the depths of the articles section here a lengthy informative and enjoyable read imo! clip below about the jackie wilson 45, has a different version of lonely teardops on the flip and read that it made the US top 100 ......The pace of life was becoming hectic; Eddie had maintained contact with Jackie Wilson, and his manager Nat Tarnopol, and had flown back to New York to play them some of the Shrine material. Jackie particularly liked a Jimmy Armstrong track, recorded on July 19th 1965, that Eddie was planning to release; never one to miss an opportunity Eddie agreed to let Jackie put his vocal on the band track and 'I Believe I'll Love On' (Brunswick 55283), recorded in August, heralded the start of Eddie's time at Brunswick as A&R Director. .....

The Headliners
Just a quick tip on the gallery as chalky post and upload is a good example if click on the chalkies gallery link that shows under his avitar in post above, can quickly view, hear ought that he has uploaded in the gallery works same for every member if click on members gallery link below their avitar or in their profile it shows you all they have uploaded may seem its quicker to upload via attachments at times, but by uploading in gallery it makes it easier to find later on, maybe more exposure ? can upload most formats and so on just post up its in gallery and as link is already there....

Feb On The Scene out - info and a quick look at the articles
Latest issue of "On The Scene" is out and about, with an interesting article on a long running saga The new booklet format is a great improvement, meaning that you just dont get the latest event info free of charge but also now get some informative and enjoyable reading thrown in as well, which has to be a good thing! This month features the usual soul, mod and scooter events easy to look up, listing and also a 2 page article billed as the "Ian Levine and the four vandals-the true story". Which is interesting reading as the author has gone for a "true and unbiased view" and includes bits like Ginger detailing how he paid £800 and the details behind him buying it and what really went on behind the curtains at togetherness. Some interesting points come up in this article, such as levine appearing to admit he lied about the whole thing from the begining but claims was to prove a point and not for finanical gain. As said its all interesting stuff and whilst does cover most aspects, there are a few things not mentioned that may cause some to doubt levines claims. More on this later. Anyway back to On the Scene, should be out and about at a venue near you soon, and as always anything that is free, usefull and informative to the soul fan cant be a bad thing!

Offensive Language/images On Site
just in case any confusion As said don't want to go down road of heavy moderation, common sense and so on should come into play with this Apart from a few isolated posts this hasnt been much of a problem on here, so shouldnt mean much if anything, its been mentioned just so all are aware and to avoid any misunderstandings and tiresome moderation If still not sure just what is acceptable normal uk daily papers may be a good example As with all moderation and guidelines on here, there are reasons for this, and in this case were explained in the first post If still have queries or not sure on this matter either post here, or pm the moderators.

Offensive Language/images On Site
Try and avoid over moderation and majority of times all seems to work well, but does seem that there is a need to clear up a few things , one being the below offensive language/images One major difference between this site and other soul related sites is that this site is public This forum is public ie it is open for all to read and all are welcome To keep it this way offensive language/images are discouraged Mainly for the two reasons below 1. The use of offensive language/images is not always welcome by all members 2. The use of offensive language/images can result in the site getting banned by workplace filters, the site being classified as "adult" along with other negative effects. If this happens it does means that some members will not be able to access site to read forum posts and other site content As said the site is public, to keep it that way and out of respect for other members who may prefer not to view/read such ..... we ask all members not to post offensive language/images. Most users do appear to understand this, and so it should cause no major problems or changes to the way members use site
