Anyone Knows That Soundfile?
Would it be called ONE LESS CHANCE FOR LOVE, by any chance? (I don't have this tune)

Help Wanted, Heard A Song On John Peel Show In The 80s
Courtesy of (and with thanks to) Calico Joe, over at Chatty Mouth - here you go, Pete: It's "Revelation Time" by Noah House Of Dread, from the 1982 On.U Sound LP "Heart" (ON.U LP20) - produced by Adrian Sherwood The vinyl is long out of print, as is the later CD version released on Efa circa 1997, though both turn up occasionally on eBay, but it is currently available on a Japanese CD released by Beat Records (BRC-121) a couple of years back. Easy to order through any of the Japanese online shops Response in about 90 minutes... https://djgreedyg.proboards77.com/index.cgi...7312&page=1

Treasure Isle Jukebox Up On My Website
Gregory Isaacs updated this one in about '76, Chris (and called it I'M ALRIGHT) - decent enough (though I don't think it's Pete's cup of tea), but not as good as this one, mind...

Black Music Mag From 1970's
I bought Blues & Soul continuously from early '71 to late '02 - I reckon I have around 800 copies that I've been intending to catalogue (like I do my tunes), but haven't found the enthusiasm yet Missing a few of the earlier ones though... Like others, I've been through brief phases of digging out old copies and having a good old read

Most Memorable Live Soul Group
Parliament / Funkadelic MOTHERSHIP TOUR - December 1978, Hammersmith Odeon - 5 rows from the front, in the centre. It was deffo a "Parliafunkadelicment thang" Maggot Brain blew me away...

I couldn't disagree less with all those points, Ivor - especially the "liking Soulful Disco" bit...

This Is Soul Eddie Floyd & Geno Washington + Pauline Black
Weren't EF and GW two of the featured artists on that live Soul show a year or so back (hosted by Pauline Black and possibly part of the "Soul Britannia" mini-series)? I found that shown to be a bit of a let-down...though it might have been better to have actually been there.

Name That Tune
Based on the Rare Pleasure version being on a CD I have called "The Best Of Sampled" (Virgin VTDCD572 - 2003), I'm sure you're right, Sebastian...

Anyone Recognise This Lyric ?

Tune Id Needed
"Three strikes you're out, but what can you do? When you're born in life with two strikes against you" What's the song and who sang it? Been bugging me all week... I'm thinking Classic Soul - early 70s, maybe the Temps', maybe Norman Whitfield or Whitfield-inspired. The nearest I can guess at (so far) is Brinkley & Parker's (DON'T GET FOOLED BY THE) PANDER MAN from '74 It's a song I've had for ages, trouble is I'm working away from home at the minute and can't get near me choons! Thanks all...

Longest Intro Before It Kicks In
How about the full-length Temps' version of PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE - that's about 4 days before any vocal comes in - the Gordy single has quite a long intro too
-
Roland Alphonso / James Bond
I don't, Joe - it's simply a 1965 Ska instrumental version of the James Bond theme... Not much help, I know, but I'm nowhere near my records during the week

First Taste Of Soul
Unfortunately, I've only ever been the most occasional of "player outers", Kath...(sacrilege to some, maybe but) I'd probably use the shiny CD version of this if I did

Red Bumb Ball
I'll dig it out when I'm next at home...and take it away with me...

First Taste Of Soul
One of the first two records I ever bought was Chuck Berry's NO PARTICULAR PLACE TO GO (red-and-yellow Pye International 7N-25242) with E.M.I. record tokens I got for my 11th. birthday in June 1964...I'd always, so my Mum tells me, preferred listening to tunes with an edge, indeed was (apparently) known to have been singing along to Millie's MY BOY LOLLIPOP just a couple of months before Mind you, though I bought a few records over the next 5 or 6 years, until I got into Reggae in 68-69, then into Soul proper in '71, my buying had been mostly the Pop hits of the day (sprinkled of course with a few Motown hits ) I still have the record - here's the scan: FWIW the other record I bought that same day was the Shadows' RISE AND FALL OF FLINGEL BUNT

Help Wanted, Heard A Song On John Peel Show In The 80s
The sound quality is fine to figure out what it is, Pete...except I can't, as it's a bit "new" for me and I don't (knowingly) know it...

Red Bumb Ball
Anyone got any particular views on RED BUMB BALL - released by Pressure Sounds (PSCD40) a couple of years back. I have the album, but haven't really gotten into it (I have no idea why not, some great tunes on there...probably) - I'd bought it based on comments/recommendations from other forums. Is it a "must have"? Should I give it another try? Help me out here please, folks...

Soul Of Jamaica
According to Gordon, any Soul after 1975 is crap! Miserable sod doesn't even like Soul-based Disco

Soul Of Jamaica
Count me in - I have loads of JA compilations I've made for myself and others. My latest one was a selection of mid-70s UK sevens that "moved" me back then - I've called it MUSIC SWEET. Anyone interested, PM me and I'll sort summat out...
