Only Dancing To What You Know
I remember you telling me about a time when you DJ'd over in OZ Paul - you said the punters certainly did not want to hear or dance to what you were playing. . . . . . .

Get a grip Gasher... it's not that good- Amazing Brothers Of Soul Footage
Brilliant!- Hamilton Movement She's Gone
Hi Dolly. Tim Brown has got one up for auction at the moment. Ends 25th June- Sandra Richardson - Stay Here With Me
What a great record this is. Always reminds me of Adey Harley and Shotts all nighters. Great stuff- Brid N Whitby Why So Different?
Of course it is a fair question. Just one that you will never get an answer to That said, £20 and £35 is not a lot of money for a full weekend of soul, who ever the promoter is.- Only Dancing To What You Know
I do my fair share of dancing though Matt so an unknown every now and then is very welcome. Especially at my age- Brid N Whitby Why So Different?
Of course promoters make money. No one expects anyone to run a venue at a loss. Do you really think there are people on here that think they should? There is a difference between running a venue occasionally and running venues as a business. But maybe that's just me. Big Bob - you certainly know what topics to start to get peoples attention- Brid N Whitby Why So Different?
Not being funny Chalky but one of the promoters said it himself in a previous thread - he is in it as a BUSINESS. And businesses are in it to make money are they not?- First Showing Of The Movie "soulboy"
Really? You lot were on here saying it was a film about being young etc with northern soul being used just as a backdrop. Make your minds up ffs- Only Dancing To What You Know
I could say that people who dance to records they don't know are f**king idiots but who am I to say what people should or should not do. Or that they are f**king idiots because they do or do not do it.- Only Dancing To What You Know
Absolutely! That said, I never dance to a tune the first time I hear it. But once I have heard a tune that I like I will dance to it the next time I hear it. Like I said, I need to feel passion for a record for me to dance to it. And for that to happen I need to hear it first. So no dancing to a tune first time for me I am afraid.- Only Dancing To What You Know
For me it is a passion thing. I only dance to tunes that 'move' me. Tunes that I have never heard before can't do that because I don't know them. Simple really. Well for me anyway- "please Help Me Find This Record, It Goes Something Like This..."
Phew... I can go to bed now with a clear head- "please Help Me Find This Record, It Goes Something Like This..."
I know what it is but can't for life think what it is called and it is doing my head in It goes "Hey Mr. One Stop.. I'm looking for a record and it goes like this..." Is it on Fortune?- Genius
Look at the girl when she sings "baby it's getting cold out". Brilliant- Rip Martin Mellor
I just can't take it in. Absolutely devastated.- Revive Comes To Cleethorpes
Good luck with this Phyllis If I was going I would definitely be a customer as the Indian head massage sounds great. You would have to find my head first though Seriously, all the best hun!- "shades Of Soul"
Yep Derek is a good un. One of my other fav reads is 'Soul Renaissance'. Love the way Martyn writes... he doesn't give a hoot and tells it as he sees it. Great stuff- "shades Of Soul"
He definitely did because I wrote some record reviews for it. No idea when it was though. Like you say, great magazine! - tef
