  1. Dunno, every one I've seen is an obvious boot, like that one. I know Chip Tyler did work with Billy Vera, but someone with more knowledge than I will have to find the connection Tony
  2. Perhaps a few examples would be appropriate. Where's Salmon when you need him?? Tony

  6. I'd have one if I could afford it, 100 times better than the remix/reissue And 1000 times better than Webbys instro Tony
  7. More likely The Yellow Van Orchestra. Tony
  8. Let's see if I've got this right- The short version-staight into the violins, is the original ? The long version-with the sh*te before the violins is the reissue.?? The instrumental is a figment of Webby's fevered imagination??? I presume then, that the original short version is fairly hard to get hold of which is why I am only hearing the ruined version. Tony
  9. It's been bugging me for a long time. I KNOW that when I first heard it at the break it went staight into the strings, When it got reissued/pressed -at the break before the strings, it's got that horrible organ type thing. And every time I've heard it played out over the last few years it's the second version I've heard.. So, what's the crack ?? Am I going crackers or what?? Tony
  10. Get it started then Paul Tony
  11. Then you don't agree that the Spakels sounds off centre??? Tony

Quite often seen the name -MORRIS CHESTNUT-turn up on the end credits, Don't know if it's the same one but. Also there's Rat Race, from the Tony Curtis film of the same name- (either the Elmer Bernstein or Richard Maltby version though) Tony

  15. Unfortunately, many still are!!! Tony
  16. [Thank god for the very sharp and vivid memory of Mr Malc Burton whose recollections of many things soulful prove time and again to be accurate and knowledgeable down to the finest detail. . Malc as i remember it, Junior Walker did appear at the Queens hall and on the same bill was the Detroit Emeralds although other artists that appeared on the night escapes the memory. The highlight of the night was when Junior did his impression of a very slow backdrop without his hands as they were still playing that immortal saxaphone and rose up again in one very slow movement. Priceless! wish i had a photo. Were you there at that night Malc and can you confirm my recollections of the evening?. Everything said about this venue regarding how crap it was as music venue is pretty accurate although it was probably the only venue around that could take the blown up attendance that Chris Burton was expecting to get through the doors. 17. Certainly Not !! But I might know one or three.......... And it wasn't only in the later years either. Tony
  18. So I've heard Tony
  19. I seem to remember that originally "exclusives" had their labels covered and were known as " Secret sounds", certainly round our way, around '72 ish. The practice of giving fictitious names and titles was instigated around '73ish, in an effort to fox the bootleggers. Of course, I could be talking utter b*llocks Again. tony
  20. Haven't a clue..never went, Could not understand WHY anyone would want to spend all night listening to played out Oldies. Things dont change much do they?? Still convinced that these and Mr. Ms started the trend of looking backwards that continues today. Tony
  21. And, much as it pains me to say this-the quality of the tunes improved when Kev Roberts got involved in those early days. Tony
