  2. Mike Is this for 'information' or to "bait" us? At least 12 have been booted or reissued. Banquet, still, at least the first syllable rhymes with 'wank'
  3. They were called "Disco Biscuits" big white tablets meant to be given to horses as an anaesthetic. Basically they are PCP (Ketamine) which was used by vets to anaethetis animals but they give you terrible hallucinations
  4. Can this be true? Does anyone remember this infamous night? And if that was out of the ordinary, what was a normal evening like...a couple gone off at Wigan and a lad met his maker at the Mecca? Just the three tonight, then. It's true, I remember it well. We were on a minibus, out of Hinckley, singing along to Anita Harris - The Play Ground;somebody shouted "it's the squad, behind us" and I dropped my 400 count bottle of Durophet which rolled under the brake pedel and we careered into the small queue of 45,000 souls waiting outside Wigan! Luckly the bottle didn't smash. The one at Mecca was unconected, some fat bloke, called Ian, singing the Carstairs, fell under a tram accidently, derailing the tram and killing the driver!
  5. After years of rumours about some bloke with thousands of them locked away in Detroit, have they finally come to light? Three weeks ago a mint one went on ebay for about £1150 arniebarggie ( 372) US $2,150.00 Apr-04-05 18:44:36 PDT to someone who I'm sure is UK based. Now Manship has a mint minus one up for auction! Is JM arniebarggie or has arniebarggie recieved the record, jumped JM's list of records awaiting the auction and is auctioning it of to make a killing (minus JM's 10%, of course). I want one, but I Don't Like To Lose a big wedges of cash! Any whispers on the grapevine?

  10. A vg- copy of Kiki Dee went for around £75 on ebay late last year. I've had a list recently with it on @£100 in e+ condition Really worth £50 IMO Sue Lynn went for £181 on Ovenchip's auction 9th Feb this year. You should keep this record for the other side "You" was it probably the worst one ever made, play it to keep burglers away from your house! Worth £100 - £150 IMO

No matter how skint you were, wouldn't you put a reserve or more of a grand on to at least stand a chance of getting most of your money back?
  18. Once again a £100 record goes for silly mone.y I've said this before, if this is a valid auction result, there must be one person putting in a bid a few quid behind, because it's an auction that claims to use proxy bidding, like ebay. As we can't 'access' this person like ebay, you can't offer a similar record for their second place bid and see if they are for real. However, anyone can sign up to the auction and bid against the true bidder i.e. the same person with a thousand pseudonyms who could always be the second highest 'bidder' . The other strange thing is that, like the Silouettes this week (~£1100), the winning bid always seems to be about 4X the 'set sale' value of the record. If the second place bidder is reading this, you can have my rarer black issue (vg+) for £670!
  19. Brother's Guiding Light - Getting together is on a Philips LP for a tenth or less than the single plus some other interesting tracks.
  20. The Moment - I've got the need - All Plat which is a nice version.

By December 1969, they were at 78959 so it must have been 2 or three years later.

Yes, it was pressed at the Monarch Recording pressing plant and that's what the MR in a circle stands for. Many styrene records came out of this pressing plant, both originals and boots. Luckily, the records were given a delta number which you find in the run out, it looks like a triangle followed by the number. Lots of pressings were done in the early to mid seventies and they are 'given' away by a higher delta number to that of their original sixties release.
  23. Mark should be banned for posting it up in the first place! If Maxine is still alive and can be found, perhaps she might like it? At least you would be giving something back to the original artist!
