  1. Would that be the fat Brent who works in a paper suppliers in Slough or the skinny bloke with glasses from Sheffield?

Lately on Ebay, I've just been buying off people I've bought from before. Also I tend to only buy if there's a picture, unless the records very cheap. the lowest grade I buy at is normally VG+. Marks and writing on labels don't really bother me.
  4. Tube tickets are pink whereas train tickets are generally orange. If you still lived in London I would expect you to have one of those fancy new Oyster cards.
  5. Ady, if he's not coming again can I have his accommodation for next year? I hope Mr Messer is OK and not too badly hurt.
  6. No they don't, I should know it's me job!

It seems I'm in the minority on this one. So in the words of Eddie Holman "I Surrender!"

Remus, you started this topic, then when Baz asked a question it seems you're not too sure of the full facts. As for dealers being charged, I think a promoter is entitled to charge. He is the one that has organised the event, so why should he subsidise (by laying on a venue & potential customers) someone making money out of selling records? At the end of the day though, nobody is forced to do anything they don't want to.
  10. Whilst out this morning (well nearer lunchtime), I bought the following LP from a car boot sale for a quid. Dionne Warwick - Soulful - Wand (WNS 12) Side 1. You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin' I'm Your Puppet People Got To Be Free You're All I Need To Get By We Can Work It Out Silent Voices Side 2. A Hard Day's Night Do Right Woman - Do Right Man I've Been Loving You Too Long People Get Ready Hey Jude What's Good About Goodbye I am the only person in the world who doesn't like the song, Hey Jude? I just think it's crap, mind you saying that I'm not a Beatles fan either! What records have you bought at car boot sales, that you wouldn't normally look twice at?

  14. I can't give an opinion as my computer won't let me play it. I get a warning saying the file is either corrupted or it doesn't support that type of file (.asx)??
  15. If people want a certain amount for records they're selling, why don't they just put a reserve on them or even a higher starting price??
  16. Anyone want to sell me this at the 1997 price, please?

This is true in my case. I like to have a beer or two when I go out, if I do I always have to leave early to get home! The problem is that the do's in London (or at least the ones I've been to) are very good. It's just that I get fed up having to leave early to make a 2 hours+ journey home on public transport, for a distance of 20 miles! As I only go out once a month, I generally have to take into consideration how to get home afterwards. Also the wife doesn't like to be left alone in the house by herself with the kids allnight. So all these affect where I decide to go. I've been out 6 times this year so far and only twice of those were in London and I live right near Heathrow Airport! January - 100 Club (London), February - Solid Hit Soul (London), March - Saracen's (Cheltenham), April - West Farnborough Club, May - SSCDT Alldayer (Derby). Cheltenham I stayed at my Brother-in-laws, West Farnborough I drove approx 40 mins away and Derby was just too good to miss! Now I come to think of it, I'd taken the day off work to go to the NCSC do at the Victory Services Club, London the night before the Alldayer, but then it was a straight choice between that and Derby the following day. I chose Derby (sorry Chris & Marcelle ), because I knew it would be easier for me to travel to Derby and back than London by public transport. I'll tell who could make a killing in London, a Teetotal Soulie who drives a minibus!

Two Words: BRUCE WILLIS Winnie, I was refering to the comment made on another topic about only black people can make soul records. It was meant to be sarcasm.

Almost forgot, according to some people any "Soul" record by an Artist of the wrong persuasion!
