  1. I'd of thought he would have just included the picture cover. I think he's just interested in making money, be nice to know what reserve price he's put on it.
  2. Thought I was down the Sally Army for a mo'. What a load of sh** !
  3. Gene, I don't know much about rareties, but why would somebody spend all that money on a record that has loads of surface noise? I could understand if it was mint or even graded as excellent, but quote: "Sweet Memories" side plays VG, with more background noise at beginning 20 seconds than rest of record. Flip side is a killer deep ballad, but plays fair at best, without skips). Does that mean its bad all the way through or just the first 20 seconds???
  4. No, the copy I bid on went for about $65. It was from a seller in the States, who I get a few things from. The day I spend £100+ for a single is quite a way off. The most I've ever spent is £44 for a single. One of those I was after for years. Gene, let us know what your sellers name is on Ebay.
  5. Please could any of you out there, give me some idea as to how much I'd need to pay to get an original copy of this tune? I recently got outbid on a copy, on Ebay, but if anybody has a copy for sale I'd be interested (obviously depends on price). Any info would be appreciated.
  6. Incredible Back To Back 45's You ought to look at some listed on the above.
  7. Just had another look, the winning bidders name was TMG720a. So I'm assuming that he wanted it quite badly. I can't remember who, but someone on here once remarked about how elated they were to finally obtain a record they were after for years. They also said that they paid alot for it, although others may think he'd paid too much he didn't care. Like they say a record is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. Although saying that I still don't think it's worth anymore than what I paid for my Gordy copy, which was about a fiver.
  8. Well it finally went for £535.21 I think some people have got more money than sense! How much for my copy on Gordy? I'm willing to accept offers starting at £200! LOL ;-)
  9. Hello Colin, As you may not be aware the value of Northern vinyl has plummeted recently! So as I'm so good natured and generous, I'll give you £20 to take them off your hands. No? Oh well, it was worth a try! LOL ;-)
  10. One thing that generally gives forged notes away, is the paper. The feel of the paper is all wrong, I got caught out at work once (that's how I know). Might be handy to know, for like the previous post said about being in dimly-lit do's.
  11. What complete B**st**ds! I hope this doesn't deter dealers from attending dos. I like buying from dealers (records that is!) at do's and am absolutely appalled that somebody could actually contemplate doing this. I'd be tempted to name names and let other record dealers in the area, know of your suspicions.
  12. We've all been to an "Oldies Night" Who's going to be first to promote a "Cheapies Night"? I'll get me coat.
  13. With recent postings with regards to cheap originals, has anybody got a discography of Golden World releases? Also going rates would be handy, as I know they can't all be cheap.
  14. You wouldn't have 2 copies for sale, by any chance?
  15. Lorraine Rudolph - Keep Coming Back For More - Jet Stream SUPERLATIVES: Lonely In A Crowd (Westbound) MARY WELLS: Keep Me In Suspense (Atco) Syl Johnson - Try Me - Twilight Jimmy Norman - This I Beg Of You - Samar Accents - New Girl - M-Pac I got these after recommendations from, Gene & Chalky on here. The dearest one was Lorraine Rudolph for £20. Plus I also got the following a couple of days ago. Pleased With Myself
  16. I was out driving today, and whilst doing so I was thinking about the recent CD discussions on the forum. It got me thinking about when labels (such as Kent) release previously unreleased tracks. I mean Little Anns two tracks, What Should I Do and Who Are You Trying To Fool were never released before Mr Croasdell put them out, I believe. So in that respect they are originals, but then again are they reissues because they have only recently been released on Kent (which is primarily a reissue label)? Like I said, what with all the previously unreleased material that has been discovered there must be others similar to these (Melba Moore -The Magic Touch, for one). So would it be acceptable to say play at a major event Little Ann on Kent, but not say Dottie & Millie's - Talkin' About My Baby as it was previously released on Topper? I suppose the question is, When Is An Original A Reissue, or should that be, When Is A Reissue An Original? Like I said in a previous post, I'm interested in other peoples views, and I'd be interested to see what you think on this subject.
  17. Just been browsing on Ebay, thought some of you might be interested. Bob & Fred for sale on Ebay
  18. This afternoon I had £17 burning a hole in my pocket. So on the way home from work I stopped off at a secondhand record shop I know. The following are the "across the board" records I purchased to put in my box and not a CD in sight! LOL ;-) Otis Clay - Messing With My Mind b/w Check It Out - ECHO - £3 Harold Burrage - You Made Me So Happy b/w Take Me Now - M-Pac - £3.50 JR. Walker & The Allstars - Gotta Hold On To This Feeling b/w I Ain't Going Nowhere - Tamla Motown - £2 The Preparations - Get-E-Up (The Horse) b/w It Won't Be A Dance (If You're Not There) - Heart & Soul Records - £3 Louis Dyer - I Wanna Make Love To You b/w Lonely Drifter - Little Star Records - £3.50 Nino Tempo And The 5th Ave. Sax - Sister James b/w Clair De Lune (In Jazz) - A&M - £1 Not bad considering Manship's got Sister James up for £30! I bought the Louis Dyer record as the credits show HB Barnum as co-writer & co-producer. There was one or two other records I was interested in. One was Liz Damon's Orient Express - You're Falling In Love -White Whale, I listened to it, but wasn't quite sure. Although saying that, if I raid the electric meter I might go back tomorrow and get it!
  19. I'm waiting to see the response to this? I'll admit to downloading no more than half a dozen tracks. But on the whole, I don't see why you don't just go to a site like Soul Club and just play the tracks, without actually downloading them. Or in the case of say John Manships site, small clips of a track to encourage you to buy the record. I have a tape from Scenesville with samples on, of tunes played there, and they have purposefully not recorded the end of the tunes to deter bootleggers. The problem being with the internet nowadays, is that it's a case of stable doors and horses!
  20. I bid up to approximately £35, even though I knew it was a reissue. The chances of me being able to afford an original are slim ( infact I'd say anorexic ! ). Anyway just out of interest, was it the promo (mentioned in KR's Top 500 book special edition) for the Soultime CD? Also has anyone got a copy for £20? Willing to go up to £35 at a push! ;-)
  21. Click on Ebay below Ebay More Ebay madness. I'll admit I put in a couple of bids, but not that high. I know it's a top tune, but how much does the original go for?
  22. Currently playing Syl Johnson - Try Me -Twilight Just got today from USA (Ebay) for £9 including postage, can't be bad.
  23. Dave, forgive me for being ignorant, but who or what is SSM?
  24. I just looked on Manships site, he's got it up for £20. Also had about a 30-60 second clip. I'll have a scout round on the sites later see if I can get it a bit cheaper (I'm a tight git!).
