Luther Ingram Hib Orange Label
I have what I believe to be an very rare orange copy, can't remember whether it's an east coast or west coast press but it is different and I will scan it post it up later when I find it. If John Manship is reading this then maybe you can help John as this copy was bought from you some 10+ years ago. As far as I know no other copies like this have turned up. Regards Alan

1st Record Played At Wigan
I know the Sherries was the first record played at the Casino but I seem to remember The Tower of Power "This time it's real" being played not long after it, my memory isn't what it was so can anyone else remember it being played. The first LP track I would guess at The Marvelettes "Only your love can save me". Didn't go to the VA VA but I would guess at TheTempos "(Countdown) Here I come" I know was a big tune there. Regards Alan

Clubs In Manchester Mid To Late 70's
Agree with most on here that The Pendulum was the venue, I went there regularly from about 1972 until it shut, Barry Tasker, Dave White and Richard Searling were the main DJ's, big tunes down there were, Lord Thunder "Thunder", The Autographs "Sad sad feeling", Dusty Springfield "What's it gonna be" (this version was played because they coldn't afford or track down a copy by Susan Barrett but for me Dusty's version is better anyway), The Marvelettes "Your love can save me", Larry Laster "Go for yourself", The Volcanos "The Laws of love", The Tempos "(Countdown) Here I come", I even remember Richard playing a new release by The Jackson Sisters "I believe in miracles", fabulous venue and Barry Tasker is still around, I talk to him regularly down at The Greatstone so like Rod suggests get yourself down to The Greatstone on the 3rd Saturday every month and bring your pen and a pad and you'll get most of the history of Manchester venues from the guys there, and I'm sure they will be very helpful, I know I'll help you all I can. Other venues include, Carolines, Baverian Beer Kellar, Belle Vue Elizabethan, Rowntree Sounds, Rafters, just on the outskirts of town we had Blue Room at Sale Locarno, The Greastone at Old Trafford, Blazers Stockport, Tiffanies at Ashton and many many more, alot of people have already mentioned Steve Sale, Steve was one of the real characters of the Manchester scene, he promoted many venues and he is still around I bump him to him occasionally but unfortunately don't have any contact details. Hope this helps a bit. Regards Alan

What Was The Slowest Northern Tune?
Hi Steve, hope you are well mate, we are hoping to get to the Greatstone soon hopefully this next one if not the next one, we haven't been out at all since the 3 Greyhound All Dayer and we missed you that day as you rode off in to the sun on your bike. Unfortunately I haven't been too good and I am due to go in hospital shortly but I'll tell you more when I see you as I don't want to bore everyone on Soul Source, give my regards to the Greatstone team and put them in the picture for me. Regards Alan
