  1. Prefer the other side I think - Here Comes That Boy I Love - great double-sider and rare Cheers Richard
  2. Ouch! That Falcons is one of the best male group sounds ever recorded - did you ever get one? Cheers Richard
  3. Still a bad one mate - even at 14  Cheers Richard
  4. Hey grant - do you fancy compiling a list of all these tracks - maybe at the top of the thread - so we can see the lot without looking at the individual posts? Cheers Richard
  5. I bought Joe Matthews - "Sorry Ain't Good Enough" on Thelma from one of the big UK dealers at what I thought was a bargain price As it turned out it was the re-release on Thelma 114 backed with the un-released "We Got A Good Thing Going" rather than the original release on Thelma 107 with "You Better Mend Your Ways" on the other side Basically, poor lazy listing by the seller Still think I should have sent it back but for some reason I never did Cheers Richard
  6. PMs aside Come on Julie Now you don't want to play all of a sudden I am totally at your disposal Whenever suits you ... Richard
  7. I'm passionate about Detroit soul, funk, R&B music etc. (love Chicago, LA too) - mainly 60s but also early 70s after which the distinctive Detroit sound faded. From a vinyl point of view I became a purely Detroit collector about 15 years ago - having collected rare soul more generally since the late 70s. Specialising in Motorcity releases was a gradual process that took a few years. A top-drawer NS DJ said to me a while back ... "Detroit collectors ...they used to have those in the 70s" If any Detroit collectors out there with similar interests want to get in touch and share info, sounds etc.it would be great to hear from you. Please just PM me Cheers Richard
  8. I sympathise Chalky and know the feeling Don't like being called a dickhead though and then being stalked by PM Please moderate when able to Respect as always Thank you Richard
  9. Yes - agreed Cheers Richard
  10. I disagree Chalky - please PM me if you are able Thank you Richard
  11. Erm - I did not invite the PM thank you It was a pro-active provocation after calling me a dickhead Can a mod please PM me so I know what I can and can't say within the SS forum rules etc. -either on forum or by PM Thank you Richard
  12. No worries mate but just realised can't post on here due to no Refosoul at moment Will PM ya Cheers Richard
  13. Point taken Chalky - but actually I don't appreciate effectively being called a dickhead on a public forum Can you moderate that please? Thank you Richard
  14. Thanks mate - appreciate the support as I think Jules is just out to provoke an argument - don't know why Just can't help telling me (and everyone else) what to do can you? Get a life you saddo
  15. Happy to do you a soundfile mate if you want to hear the GT version Just PM your email address or I can post on the thread here over the weekend if you prefer Cheers Richard
  16. Makes no sense to you - but I'm sure anyone else on here would get it. With pleasure I have corrected it - check your own posts for corrections - there are several required If you want to continue to pick a fight with me I will be happy to oblige Richard
  17. Now that really is insulting - that's where I thought you were going before with the "Richard" in quotation marks Shown your true colours now haven't you Richard
  18. Hi Russ I prefer the sparse version I have the Golden Triangle release and also the Sound of Soul one on a demo with the girlie backing Is the Sound of Soul version without the backing vocals exactly the same at the Golden Triangle version? Fantastic Northern whichever version!! Cheers Richard
  19. Well you are wrong abut that actually Like I said you are a right know-it-all Well get off your high-horse and stop reading and posting about it then you sanctimonious *** Richard
  20. To be honest you just come across as a know-it-all with your holier-than-thou statements. Obviously you just get off on lecturing other people all the time about what they should and should not do/think. Please keep any other such pompous and argumentative statements to yourself Richard
  21. Puts my little example into perspective Ged Cheers Richard
  22. We have covered all this above thank you very much :sleep3: You already implied I'm a 'petty criminal' - please don't start suggesting I'm stupid too Richard
  23. Brilliant stuff Ady Just can't wait for these The September Jones versions of Mikki Farrow with different lyrics sound fabulous Cheers Richard
  24. Thanks for the advice Pottsy - I actually emailed the seller earlier today suggesting just that. I guess some sellers could potentially just pay the fees and write them off for business tax purposes? Anyone know for sure how it works in the US please? I'm definitely being persuaded along the lines of paying the charges, rather than sending the record back. Cheers Richard
  25. It's OK - not another tale of woe from me about money and record deals - I just couldn't find that thread about hearing Northern played in unusual places when you are not expecting it. I'm off work today and took a few suits down to the dry cleaners in town - walked in and heard the Prophets - 'I Got The Fever' playing. Said to the guy - who was singing along - you know this one do you then? We ended up having a long discussion about Northern, the local scene etc. Apparently he has about 50 Northern CDs which he plays in the shop on a random player - interspersed into other music styles. Northern is ideal he reckons as there is no swearing, 'bloody guitar solos' etc. Dry Clean Plus in Newark - Clock Tower, Bar Gate, Newark. They are a decent family-run business too. Very helpful service all-round. I 'm expecting some more sounds when I go in and get the suits back on Monday SWONS Richard
