  1. Good price on an issue in M- I reckon Ted Cheers Richard p.s. fabulous, fabulous record!
  2. I think the Debonaires - Headache In My Heart (Solid Hit) sounds like Bananarama (and their other records where there is no lead as such) Sorry - Bananarama sound like the Debonaires!! Cheers Richard
  3. Popsike varies widely. Manship's books it at £300. Is it generally thought that the issue is rarer? Cheers Richard
  4. Great stuff Pete - those yellow issues are truly a thing of beauty Cheers Richard
  5. The Arabians (Please) Take A Chance On Me (Le-Mans). New York label but Detroit group. Anyone know where the recording session was done please and/or who played on it? Arrangement by McKinley Jackson - so presumably a Detroit recording - and Production by James Hendrix. Was this all Detroit and just leased out to Le-Mans? I see Manship's Guide lists it as two separate numbers #002 and #004 (see scan) - but values both the same price. Presumably, there is just the one release and the two numbers are just because both appear on the label? Brilliant hand claps on this track and one of the nicest looking labels ever too! Cheers Richard
  6. Thanks Pete - makes good sense Richard
  7. The point I'm after is that I have a rare record on Blue Rock - there is slight styrene distortion - nothing bad at all - just a bit of 'crackle' in places, but definitely styrene distortion. I have played the record once and I just put it on MP3 for listening to, which is where I noticed the distortion on playback. If I play the record again, say several times, will the distortion get worse? I don't want to wreck it Cheers Richard
  8. Premium Stuff posted a post in a topic in Record Sales
Apologies if I have asked before - but how do you do that with the label scans again please? Looks nice Cheers Richard
  9. C'mon Soul-Sourcers - someone must know something about this session. What else was recorded at the same time? I'm sure I remember reading something somewhere about how Edwin did not do that many sessions for his Ric-Tic songs and so all his top records were done in just two or three sessions Hey, Robb K - where are you when I need you Can you identify and of the main Detroit players on this one - especially the drums please? Cheers Richard
  10. Does this kind of styrene sound distortion get any worse if you play the record? Thanks Richard
  11. Never seen a WDJ of this mate. However, I do have the issue ... oh and an original white label test pressing with hand-written credits ... oh and an original juke box strip I know ... I need to get a life Cheers Richard
  12. Joe-L - (I'm Not Gonna Be) Worried (Clissac) was covered up by Richard Searling as Cody Black Cheers Richard
  13. AAaaarrrggghhh!!!
  14. Spotted that Billy/Billie Kennedy on Thelma is much clearer and louder on the WDJ compared to the issue. But only on the "This Is A Groovy Generation" side Must be loads out there like this Cheers Richard
  15. Cover-ups ... A truly perfect part of our rare soul scene - emitomising the rarity, exclusivity and "yet-to-be-discovered" nature of so many fabulous, truly fabulous rare soul sounds. But how many cover-ups were already pretty well known to collectors and record diggers when they were first covered? Apart from a few biggies, how many have really stood the test of time? Which would we all agree are the all time rare cover-ups? And who was the king/queen of cover ups? Well, when it comes to naming them - surely it was the cover-up king Guy Hennigan? Cheers Richard
  16. Thanks mate Is it on this one? Cheers Richard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E97PG9sl1I
  17. That didn't work for me mate Richard
  18. This is the Northern version with handclaps!
  19. I can't help liking this song - of it's time and good fun Was this ever considered a soul record? His dancing in this video is different Would this ever get played nowadays? Cheers Richard
  20. There are at least two other releases on MAG mate I have the Chanels on MAG and a scan of another one somewhere. Cheers Richard
  21. RCA is a different Barons group isn't it - not the group on Soul etc. The label says produced for Holton Records. Never heard that about Jock Mitchell on Barracuda Cheers Richard
  22. There is more than one Barracuda label e.g. Billy Watson is different label. That Barons rings a bell actually - what the score? Cheers Richard
  23. It's a good cover up name for the song Cheers Richard
  24. How about these?: Patti Young - Head And Shoulders (Above The Rest) on Ernstrat Nelson Sanders - Mojo Man (Rambler) Four Tracks - Like My Love For You (Mandingo) - is there anything else on this logo? Joe L - (I'm Not Gonna be) Worried (Clissac) Jack Montgomery - Don't Turn Your Back On Me (Barracuda) Cheers Richard
