Arabians On Le-Mans
Popsike varies widely. Manship's books it at £300. Is it generally thought that the issue is rarer? Cheers Richard

Arabians On Le-Mans
The Arabians (Please) Take A Chance On Me (Le-Mans). New York label but Detroit group. Anyone know where the recording session was done please and/or who played on it? Arrangement by McKinley Jackson - so presumably a Detroit recording - and Production by James Hendrix. Was this all Detroit and just leased out to Le-Mans? I see Manship's Guide lists it as two separate numbers #002 and #004 (see scan) - but values both the same price. Presumably, there is just the one release and the two numbers are just because both appear on the label? Brilliant hand claps on this track and one of the nicest looking labels ever too! Cheers Richard

Problem With Styrene, Please Advise
The point I'm after is that I have a rare record on Blue Rock - there is slight styrene distortion - nothing bad at all - just a bit of 'crackle' in places, but definitely styrene distortion. I have played the record once and I just put it on MP3 for listening to, which is where I noticed the distortion on playback. If I play the record again, say several times, will the distortion get worse? I don't want to wreck it Cheers Richard

Loft 45's Again

Edwin Starr - You're My Mellow - Recording Session Info Please
C'mon Soul-Sourcers - someone must know something about this session. What else was recorded at the same time? I'm sure I remember reading something somewhere about how Edwin did not do that many sessions for his Ric-Tic songs and so all his top records were done in just two or three sessions Hey, Robb K - where are you when I need you Can you identify and of the main Detroit players on this one - especially the drums please? Cheers Richard

The Truth About Cover Ups
Cover-ups ... A truly perfect part of our rare soul scene - emitomising the rarity, exclusivity and "yet-to-be-discovered" nature of so many fabulous, truly fabulous rare soul sounds. But how many cover-ups were already pretty well known to collectors and record diggers when they were first covered? Apart from a few biggies, how many have really stood the test of time? Which would we all agree are the all time rare cover-ups? And who was the king/queen of cover ups? Well, when it comes to naming them - surely it was the cover-up king Guy Hennigan? Cheers Richard
