A lot of this comes down to whether we are talking about buying vinyl/CDs or playing them out. One thing people tend not to mention when talking about bootlegs/counterfeits (whether vinyl or CDs) is that they are against the law That in itself should be an important point to think about when deciding on our buying/playing policies. Artists also don't get anything from these in any case. Artists may get money from new vinyl or CD releases. However, isn't it licensing deals or maybe even the number of sales of new legitimate vinyl/CD releases that artists would get money from - not from the number of plays in clubs? So playing of boots could be argued to be out in due to illegality of the product, and no benefit to the artists anyway. Playing out of legitimate vinyl/CD releases could be argued against as no benefit to the artists from the number of plays (this comes from the buying), and if there is an original vinyl release that would be the authentic original anyway. Playing of previously unreleased material on a legit CD or new vinyl is perhaps the most grey area - but again no benefits to the artists from playing them, just maybe from buying them? ...3, 2, 1 ............. Cheers Richard
  10. Good man - I used to hate anything on record labels (stickers, writing) and then somehow changed my mind totally and really love the various adornments that there are on labels - mainly on DJ copies of course - especially official stamps, stickers, dated etc. I often seek out these things now Cheers Richard
  11. I would have left that Radio Station sticker on mate - it's part of the history, gives it 'provenance', and looks better than the picture in post #69 where it has been removed. Cheers Richard

Barney As the topic starter indicated this is a thread about whether artists get their dues - not about OVO So please leave off the OVO on this thread as it's really 'off topic'. If you want to start up a new thread about OVO please do so and we will all happily pile in on there Cheers Richard
  14. Hi Natalie Well they are all top class sounds - all favourites of mine - you have great taste in soul sounds Richard

This Guy? That's the fastest time ever run - but it's not as fast as the world record (David Coleman). A truly international field, no Britons involved (David Coleman). The Republic of China - back in the Olympic Games for the first time (David Coleman). And the line up for the final of the Women's 400 metres hurdles includes three Russians, two East Germans, a Pole, a Swede and a Frenchman (David Coleman). Cheers Richard

On the face of it, I think it's pretty much out of order. That said, it is possible the 'Motown guy' only just asked very speculatively to test the water as to whether this was even an option. In any the case, the decent thing, if you all know each other, would have been to speak to you guys about it first. Yes, Motown is so close that I think it's 'competition'. Suggest you just work on the owner to make sure he does knock back the Motown night. If it looks like it's going ahead - suggest a discussion with the other chap so you can work out between you how best to work things so you can complement, rather than compete with each other. Hopefully, that should then be that. Cheers Richard
  20. Here they are - think it's the correct two threads: Cheers Richard
  21. Yes, it was still a decent, different kind of show - and I did listen right to the end Very good for Radio 4 too. More like the kind of thing that Radio 2 does. Cheers Richard
  22. Think the Northern bit is over already They were talking about the Twisted Wheel and had "You Hit Me" playing in the background as the narrative said something like Roger wasn't really into this uptempo, dance music with lush orchestral arrangements ... Basically that was it - moving swiftly on then Cheers Richard
  23. Yes, was just about to listen - they mentioned Northern in the trailer Cheers Richard
  24. Would like to see the results of that Bob Cheers Richard
  25. That's totally different to what you said before you had second thoughts and just edited it Richard
