  1. Lorraine Ellison "I've got my baby back"
  2. Another example of commonality standing in the way of quality. This record has all the hallmarks of a top northern dancer, but has always been hampered by its subsequent re-issue in the UK (twice) and the fact that "Stay with Me" , hit number 11 in the 1966 R & B chart and number 64 pop. Great arrangement and fantastic breaks, produced by Jerry Ragovy: Lorraine Ellison "I've got my baby back" WB 5850 UK 1966
  3. Finished on £693 amazing ! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131361264007?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. The Sherrell Bros - The Price - Currison ..still i do wonder what the fuss is about ??
  5. Although I've posted it before I thought i'd slip this one in, as there's a copy on E-bay doing right well at the moment and it now represents one of the best bargains I ever had from Beatin' Rythm, having picked it from there for a song. Kinda' makes up for the stuff that I bought there, but did get to hear properly till I got home. Anway.. The Sherrell Bros - The Price - Currison See here on ebay.
  6. Definetly a tune! Only fault is that despite being only 1:56 long it runs out of steam at 1.40 with a long fade out. Such a shame because the boys were doing a fab job. Hope you don't mind my saying.
  7. Some cracking picks by members of this forum recently, by the way. The Major IV "Down in the Ghetto" Venture
  8. One I've just picked up; The Major IV "Down in the Ghetto" Venture I broke my own rules on this one falling for the blurb on the Drop Down Auction before checking what I could get it for on discogs. There is however a uniqueness about the copy though, as it's been mislabelled as Phil Flowers Discontented on Dot. Puts me in mind of The Exits "another sundown". A real pedigree with a swirling production by Micky Stevenson and Bob Relf.
  9. Not seen this boot before, are they 70's or much later Pete?
  10. Here's a few: The Temptations: Beauty Is Only Skin Deep / You're Not An Ordinary Girl TMG 578 Shorty Long: Chantilly Lace / Your Love Is Amazing TMG 600 Jimmy Ruffin: What Becomes Of The Broken-Hearted / Baby I've Got It TMG 577 - Stevie Wonder: Blowing In The Wind / Ain't That Asking For Trouble TMG 570 The Contours: It's So Hard Being A Loser / Your Love Grows Precious Every Day TMG 605
  11. Junior Walker and the All Stars: "The Things I Do"
  12. Having lost one Motown Soulster it got me thinking of another favourite of mine and T's that never failed to rock the house on any of the occasions we were able to see him in our youth. Junior Walker & the All Stars (the things I do) This in my view is a much underrated track from his Soul LP "Home Cookin"
  13. Shane Martin Columbia spec products £67 ???? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201213162120?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Good luck to the seller, I think I got a fiver for one 18months ago.
  14. Kim Weston That's Groovy MGM
  15. I would say that this is a collectors choice as I've never heard it played out anywhere as I guess it's too down tempo. For me it's an evocative summer record, that I picked up cheap many moons ago. It's still doesn't command any great price but to me it's class. Kim Weston That's Groovy MGM.
  16. Another that's sky rocketed out of my league, superb vocal group soul. Top pick IMOP.
  17. Click on the link below for a broadcast from March 2000 when Richard spins oldies and speaks to Jack Ashford. Jack Ashford speaks to Richard Searling on Cellar Full of Soul 26/03/00
  18. Showing off now , with this rarity! Fantastic vocal group, great stormer too!
  19. A big favourite of mine from the Hacienda days about '91, always related the lyrics back to Wigan too!
  20. Fabulous tribute to the 00 Soul showman. I often recall his appearance on pre-allnighter Golden Torch New Year's, which was sparsely attended on a very wintry night.circa . Following a big intro by Chris Burton he came on stage wearing that white Elvis style cat suit and rocked the house! At least that's how I remember it, can anyone confirm the date?
  21. The Enchanted Five Have You Ever (That's What It Means) CVS
  22. Glad you're feeling better Dave, we can all walk that path occasionally. I think that the music helps to keep us rooted and takes us to a better place.. If you don't mind my saying that is.. Regards the Ambers, fabulous two sider - another that's become hard to find and expensive. Here's a recent acquisition from me: The Enchanted Five Have You Ever (That's What It Means) CVS
