  4. Don't know anything about the group myself, except that they have a following in Funk circles. For the uninitiated: Nice X-over that has a dodgy sound level on the vocal at the start: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IX0KAQ7K06Y&feature=relmfu Flip it over for this also sought after funky track:

In view of the passing of Frank Wilson, I wondered whether folks would like to share thoughts on his musical legacy over the decades. Here's to kick off: Edwin Starr's take on "Born to be Bad": Mavis Staples "Chained": Thanks Frank.
  6. Riley Hampton strikes with mid tempo magic: The Players "Why Did I Lie":

  9. The last few picks have been fantastic guys. This ones 70's bouncy beach music:The Seventh of May~Boy,Am I Happy Anglo has this track valued fairly highly, though recent Popsike listed sales are for quite modest prices. https://www.popsike.c...tord=&x=19&y=10 That is unless Anglo are valuing it as a misspelling: https://www.raresoulv...=SEVENTH OF NAY Anyway picked up a copy for fifteen quid on the bay yesterday.
  10. I guess that this must have been posted before, if so sorry, here goes:
  11. This is great informative comment thanks for sharing it. Unlike some responses on Soulsource which are less than polite and of the nature "didn't you know that, dohh!" I hold my hands up, I'm not an expert! Thanks again, its a credit Soulsource. Best Mick
  12. Love this: Roy Smith : Don't Go Away:Ascot also good is the 70's re-recording on Cutlas:

  15. Sons of Slum, funky but catches the flavour of the era:
  16. I take it that these are not legit re-releases? https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/soulwaxni/m.html?_uhb=1&hash=item1c2b300f2d&item=120983654189&pt=UK_Records&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2562

    Spyder Turner:
  21. I have come to like this Marva Whitney outing. I know its Funky and the 45 is actually better, but in case you haven't seen it, here it is live:
  22. This is being advertised on E-bay as a UK issue. Never seen a black one before: The Emotions - Got to be the man https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-U-K-45-STAX-Emotions-Got-Man-So-Can-Love-You-/221120182941
  23. Unbelievable, try to post any of those tunes on You-Tube and they'll now be blocked by Universal.
  24. The rare Pay Tons 101 issue appears to go for good money, the Tangerine issue goes for £25-£50. Popsike values here: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=George+byrd&x=12&y=11
  25. My brother and I have had a couple of these a few years ago. About the rarest thing I had was Rare Pleasure "let me down easy". Though we did get some nice mint copies of Ric Tics JJ Barnes,Edwin, Detroit Emeralds etc. These aren't rare but they were in great condition. You quite often see many of the other titles turn up on the Bay with low min bids. I'm sure that someone must have found something in the past. I think they're great value if you sold your collection years ago and are thinking of starting again. Mick
