record stores in Baltimore?
I'm in tonight and tomorrow for work. Any record store suggestions? Thanks!

finally got my record/stereo set up nicely!
Holy cow! Nice wall art Baz1! Sorry for lack of replies on this thread by myself. Good news is that I got my records set up. Bad news is that I now drive 90 minutes each way to work (on California highways full of insane people driving 90 miles an hour). Been too smoked to check soul source (or listen to many records) since we moved beginning of February!

finally got my record/stereo set up nicely!
sorry, i am sure there are other threads on this (but couldn't find). just moved to new place and got my turntables and records sorted how i like them. also, shelves are on wheels so i can wheel into another room if my wife wants them out of the way (guests coming over or whatever)...and nice little dance floor right in front! (little puff of white in the lower left corner is dog's tail!) what other types of set-ups do folks favor?

Chicago soul events this weekend?
I'm in Chicago until sunday. Anyone know of any soul stuff going on (soul/funk/R&B)? Any record stores I should hit? It's like zero degrees fahrenheit outside, but will brave the cold for some soul!

Imaginations on Bacon Fat
interesting discussion. it cuts off before Ceasar actually posts a list of other songs they (Tymes) sang on, and if there actually was any singing (on this or other tracks) by an actual Imaginations group. Also, a bit poignant to read that thread because Boba is on it. also wish he would have discussed the awesome flip side "I love you more than anyone"

Imaginations on Bacon Fat
This is one of my all-time favorite male vocal performances (and favorite label designs!). Does anyone know anything about this group? About the lead vocalist? Also, can anyone suggest similar sounds for my rolita play box? (hoping Kev Cane weighs in here!)

Mose Allison , R.I.P
i always loved Mose. i can't stand "snooty", "intellectual" jazz nerds that compare everything to "A Love Supreme", and denigrate stuff like this (i lived 6 years in San Francisco with jazz snobs and argued about him all of the time). Allison's ability to weave blues and jazz in an accessible, finger-popping manner was amazing. he had a mediocre (at best!) voice, but sang with so much verve and aplomb, you are just drawn into every lyrical story. and the fact that he was skinny white cat holding his own singing about toiling on "parchman farm" (a brutal all-black prison in Mississippi that he would have not survived one day in) and covering willie dixon songs is pretty legit. favorite track of his - "new ground" - am gonna spin this next time i DJ...

Bobby Garrett. I can't get away
Cool! I've bought tons of stuff from them before and have been amazed at the quality of the stock they get their hands on. Thanks!
