Spring Records
Not too much, but Tony R found some good alts and stuff on the Millie multis which he's using on the repackaging of her old albums onto new CDs. We live in hope!

Spring Records
I did knock out a couple of CDs of Spring material (one on Kent, it's one of my faves, and one on Southbound, more the hits) and another is in the pipeline, so I'll borrow a few of your recommendations, if I may. My faves are anything by the Mayberry Movement (though it's more Event, the sister label), Ray Godfrey's I'm The Other Half Of You and the Act One tracks.

The mad hippy shopkeeper wouldn't let me take them all!

Bootleggers Using Recent Flyers
And mine are normally done with a John Bull printing set. If it's one of Virginie's she does her own mad drawings. Hey we're art; dead sheep with black fists a go go!

Cold-blood,i`m A Good Woman
No you're alright I just heard it and it does sound like tirt! Lets call it quits. It's a bit too rockish but the brass is something else.

Cold-blood,i`m A Good Woman
Apart from Ken being aurally dyslexic and as daft as a brush, I didn't think turd was an American word. Anyone got any evidence either way

Nolan Chance - Just Like The Weather - Bunky
I got one from dave Burton's Harlequin record shop about 1972. When I bumped into John Anderson at Val Shively's in the mid 70s I asked him if he'd had one and he told me it didn't exist! Mine went to John Vincent who i think still has it.

I also apologise to September for nicking her thread!

September Jones 45s French Sensation
I apologise unreservedly then, two bits of perceived criticism in one day tipped me over the edge. I still can't agree on the RCAs, Sharon Scott's unreleased sides in particular are awesome; smebody please find her! "Dave Ham 3" I really enjoyed, I think the Barbees, The Additions, Little Anns, the OC Tolberts, James Lately, Tobi Lark, Tokays and even Chico & Buddy though it's a bit funky are all corkers. Probably the couple of 80s tracks put you off, but give it another try and jump the tracks you can't stand. PS Apologies to September for nicking her thread!

September Jones 45s French Sensation
I'd differ on KC, SS, NW and the Cavaliers, which are better than the releases and say the others were on a par. I just worry that your attitude to Kent is a bit like Levine's Sidecar and you're missing out on a lot of good soul. You rightly picked me up on various title misprints on the label over the years but they were a tiny proportion and there's a lot of terrific stuff been issued. Out of interest do any of the tracks or comps please you in any way?

Garland Green - Since You've Been Gone
It was the last Kent vinyl LP, hard to find now. It'll be out on a GG CD in a few months.

6ts Website
No just pure inefficiency, we were churning them out back then. The highlight was the CD Rare Collectible and Souful, which went out and is probably rare and collectible itself. The one I spotted before printing, which i wish i hadn't was Anna King singing 'Mama's Got A Bag Of Heroin'. True!

6ts Website
Ex Soul Source junta member Kolla has done a bang-up job on re-vamping the site. It looks very groovy and is easier for Luddites like me to see on my Brownie 127 PC. There's all the latest 6TS news as it oozes out of our press department and photos and articles and stuff like that. I think you can even stick up blogs and 'ting.

Sad News Nige Shaw RIP was: Well Known Soul Sourcer Not To Well
I'm so glad I got Nige on at the 100 Club recently. He'd asked for a spot some years back but with my usual inefficiency it took yonks before he actually got on the stage. In the time inbetween he never gave me a hard time and when he finally made it there he was excellent. It was a memorable night. Rightly confident in his abilities he loved the scene to pieces, was totally positive and livened up any nighter he attended with his undoubted charm (and pasty legs). My commiserations to all his family and friends.

First Ever Bootlegs Soul Sounds Label
I've just found my Jackie Lee Temptation Walk/Shotgun & The Duck on Old Soul so it was a bigger label than I thought. Any advance on three issues?

First Ever Bootlegs Soul Sounds Label
The Other Old Soul was Bobby Freeman Swim/Little Old Heartbreaker Me which was an odd choice!
-
First Ever Bootlegs Soul Sounds Label
The Old Soul were 15 shillings from his stall on Leicester market and I sold them on at the Lantern for 25 bob each!
-
First Ever Bootlegs Soul Sounds Label
Jeff's first boot and the first done for the scene (there were already US boots for doo wop and even soul ballads) was The Poets 'She Blew A Good Thing' on Old Soul which was our name for the scene then. I bought copies off him and took them to the Lantern all nighter in Market harborough and no-one could work out why they were on that label, myself included. There was one other on the label (a Jackie Lee?) he then started to Soul Sounds
