Records That Shouldnt Have Been Played 1st Time
Right and wrong! It was called a soul scene before Dave coined the phrase; it was known as "Old Soul" round our way (we weren't very imaginative). In fact the first ever Northen boots by Jeff King of Leicester were on that label. However you're right that nobody minded pop records being played in the slightest. Apart from Round Robin, the Human Beinz, Frankie Valli and the Swinging Medallions spring to mind. Also Chubby Checker's Cum A La Be Stay is more poppy than any of those and was equally big.

Caressa Watson..sweet Temptation Lp
Then foetus, you'd know that most Kent LPs were on sale for a very long time (some are still available today). Your first statement "most" was wrong so I corrected you and your second statement "some" was right. It wasn't an argument I was merely righting your error as a lot of Kent collectors care about these things and you post with such an air of authority that they may have got the wrong picture

John Andrews & The Lonely Ones
I've got an acetate of Val Simpson doing her demo of this. I keep meaning to play it. I'll do it down the next 100 Club. Along with the female version of Double Cooking which is by the Waves not the Whales as I incorrectly gibbered once.

Caressa Watson..sweet Temptation Lp
It's only semi-rare but it didn't stay on catalogue for longer than most Kent LPs.

The Mirwood Soul Story New Kent Cd Info
I'm sure there are and I'll bear it all in mind for the next volume, good point and always a hard one to decide on which version to go for. For example I purposely made all the 6TS story mono as that's how we heard them down the club. Whereas on the Sue story Harlem Shuffle sounds great in stereo.

Burning Bush - Keeps On Burning - Mercury
One of mine, I'm afraid. The first copy was sold to Ginger at St Ives for £50, loads of money then, and it cleared the floor. but he stuck with it and it ended up a very big sound. i'd have it for myself if I knew how to bid.

100 Club Sensation
Dear Ady, We are travelling up from Exeter on Sat, is there anywher to park around the club or are we better off getting the tube in from elsewhere? Thanks VW If you stay North of Oxford St there are side roads and mews where you can normally get a place, but don't go on the yellow lines a cm or they'll have you! PS Trickster is a 100 Club virgin if I'm not mistaken.

100 Club Sensation
At very little cost, we've managed to sign up whirling Dervish Chris "Trickster" Harvey to DJ on Saturday. He's going to play some choice oldies and dancers faves in between all the super rare bollox the rest of us will be chucking at you. It's going to be a humdinger.

The Mirwood Soul Story New Kent Cd Info
Ady without doubt the booklets and sleeve notes are worth the price of admission on their own, I wasn't saying that, I just meant Goldmine did a Mirwood 22 tracker or something and odd tracks have been slipping out on cd's for years that's all, I was just a bit surprised to hear Kent were putting out Mirwood material. I thought of one that hadn't ever been reissued in any guise whatsoever but I'm not sure if it's 'real' - the instrumental of Don't Pretend without the added Simon Soussan strings on top. I have this on a very old emidisc but it would be nice to hear a great recording of it. We bought the label from the rightful owner and acquired the master tapes (except the ones that had been "borrowed") so the sound is much better, we have access to all the files (I certainly didn't know Jimmy Conwell 'To Much' was scheduled for Mirwood release) and will be doing two 24 track volumes plus odd tracks elsewhere where appropriate. We're also paying all the artists we can find for the first time since 1966/67. If you bought a copy, I'm afraid some of it would go to the singers and songwriters this time.

The Mirwood Soul Story New Kent Cd Info
As there's unissued on there it goes without saying that No-one has all of these. The sound quality is far superior to anything you've heard before. And if you read sleevenotes even you might pick up the odd fact you didn't know about (and see some cool memorabilia)

Jimmy Raye
Simon Soussain did about 20 titles made to look as original as possible. I met him in LA in 1974 and he tried to fool me they were originals but they all had the same mark in the run out grooves which I remember as Pb but it could have been something else. I told everyone in the UK they were boots but they still bought them.

Rocket Nighter Mar 27th London
I'll be there in psychedelic mode for the best band ever "Love" who are on beforehand. You may not recognise me in my mirror shades (though the big arse may be a giveaway).

Who Taught Tim Brown To 'dance'?
I'm probably going to get this back with interest but a close friend likened Mr Brown's dancing style to that off John Alderton at the school disco in "Please Sir"

Alt Chuck Jackson Version
So that's two alts and counting. Does anyone have any more examples from the early vinyl days when I didn't know my arse from my elbow? (It's the bit below the small of my back isn't it?)
