Excellent Andy, that's half the sleevenotes done. I actually still need an Ex copy if you could oblige. The one I got was Z-, though the Laura Johnson was fabulous +!

Bbc Takes Another Bite - Northern Soul Programme Planned Plus A Funk Eve
I'd be surprised if the 80s and 90s get much of a mention from my dealings with the producer, they couldn't be arsed to ask me anything about it despite having helped the producer out on other projects and having been active on the scene for 45 years.

Ady Cleethorpes Email
Thanks for the support everybody but could you please not email anybody, Chris Shaw has nothing to do with this and it is just causing more aggravation at this end. Last night was brilliant despite the problem so feel free to pop down and whoop it up. Ady

Cleethorpes Weekender Important News!
2.30 am Friday 13th June 2014 Thursday afternoon, while I was at rehearsals with Sandy and Greg, I got a phone call from the Beachcomber telling me that due to a serious issue with an ex-member of staff, their application for the all-night dance licenses had not gone in until this Wednesday. Licenses must go in to the authorities ten working days before an event or five in exceptional circumstances. They had been trying to get the council to change their mind all Wednesday and Thursday morning to no avail. Once I had recovered from this bombshell, I too pleaded as an independent promoter with no control over these events and despite our 20 + year good record and the fact that people were travelling from all over the country and all over the world, the licensing official refused to budge. She would not even allow us to keep the music going after the 2 am license the club already holds. Subsequently we are going to have to stop all music in the venues at 2 am on Friday and Saturday and 12.30 am on Sunday. The Northern soul scene was built on all-nighters so to hold a Northern Soul Weekender without them is hugely unsatisfactory. This is such short notice; travel and accommodation arrangements are all in place and everybody is geared up for a weekend of soul, that I intend to continue to run the weekend in its new limited hours form. To soften the blow I will refund £20 on all weekend passes and £10 on Saturday night passes. Again due to the short notice I will have to arrange most of these next week once I have new cheque books ordered. Any PayPal payments can be partially refunded, relatively quicker and I shall start doing that on the Tuesday, once I have sorted the financial aspects out. For people waiting to pick up passes and still to pay, we will deduct those amounts from the admission money at reception so it will be £39 for a weekend pass and £18 for a Saturday night pass. I realise this is a huge blow to all of us who love to dance through to the early hours but this year I am afraid the late night partying will have to be done in the caravans. I am sure we will all make the most of it and an earlier entrance to the dance halls is the obvious way to do that. I am re-scheduling the DJ times out of necessity and to maximise the time we have. My apologies go out to the DJs who will all miss out to some degree. Sandy and Greg are concerned but are ready to give us a rousing Northern Soul show on Saturday and I am sure all the DJs will pull out the stops for this unique occasion. Please accept my apology for this major inconvenience. It has taken me some hours to be able to get my thoughts together, work out what was the best way to proceed and compose this letter. I will be driving to Cleethorpes most of the morning so will not get a chance to answer many queries until later. Ady Croasdell

Lovells On Brent
Great story Robb and great theory but it's hidden away in a low interest topic; you should start a new one in All About The Soul
-
Laura Johnson On Brent
I know, I think he'll always spring to our minds on here.

Lovells On Brent
Thanks lads yes I got sorted a coupla hours ago; I think I've confused Robb with my fake Yarkshire talk. Any road up is just a friendly way of saying anyway Robb

Lovells On Brent
PS I'm sorted on this one too now. Thanks for reading

Laura Johnson On Brent
Thanks Robb, a UK collector and DJ is kindly lending me a copy. I had heard that story before but only emanating from you. I'll send you the track listing in advance to prompt your memory. Cheers Ady

Lovells On Brent
Good point, I'd better get on the fish oils too. And you either didn't rise to my bizarre northern colloquialisms or wisely treated them with disdain.

Lovells On Brent
Ronnie, but you're close. Yep I'll need it a bit sharper Robb; thanks any road up.

I think I've got a boot then so could use the loan of a nice issue please anybody. Thanks Pete

Lovells On Brent
Was it booted, my copy is a demo but looks a bit odd and is very bassy on the Heartaches side.

Not had a chance to donate until now, maybe any further money could go to one of the charities that has been discussed?

Allnighter Dates Clashing Can Anything Be Done?
I look at dates of similar clubs like Rugby and Lifeline and try and avoid, sometimes a clash can't be avoided but its usually ok. It is worse for me if there's a good local evening do on

Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
A great idea if not too arduous and maybe we could find a few entertaining emails he sent us to add to the colour.

Bob Abrahamian R.i.p
I'm utterly stunned, he has helped Kent out on so many projects recently, particularly the Dore ones, He was about to send me a dub for another project; I hope all the favours I and others asked him for didn't contribute to his death in any way; I think he found it hard to say no to people and may have taken on too much at times. I never met him and I'm not sure we even spoke on the phone but we had an ongoing soul knowledge conversation, him helping with the Kent CDs and I contributed to the Soul Vocal Groups book he was working on where I could. The world of soul has lost a major figure, I can't think of anyone with greater depth of knowledge and willingness to spread it and learn too. He did not just study the subject either he told me of driving round the south side of Chicago with Richard Stamz a black personality of the blues era, collecting debts or something similarly bizarre. Rest In Peace Bob.

J B Troy Live On
Great collector's tune from the 80s in particular that could have got serious spins at any stage but never really did. It seemed to peak in demand about 5 years ago so maybe somebody played it then. I just put it on Soul Spin because it was a good sound on Musicor which I liked. Not an oldie as only collectors really know it.
