So which was the female vocal of alternate words to Open The Door To Your Heart? That got people talking, great sound. And the rest were spot on too. Ady

The Top Discoveries Of 2012? Spinners Unissued Motown
We are doing a fully Motown sourced CD of the Spinners early years at Motown up to 1966 I think. Both of these are on it and we're also doing 45s and will put one or two on various label compilations. Personally I think We're Gonna Be More Than Friends is up there with the likes of Reconsider and Tell Me It's Just A rumour Baby. I still need to hear the other one a few more times and hear it out (as I will this Sat at the 100 Club. Did I mention that?). Ady

Little Ann Who Are You Trying To Fool
It only ever existed on a 1/4" tape and we had some problems getting a good sound out of it in the 90s, however technology and experience have moved on and we're doing a re-copy and EQ for the Cleethorpes 20th CD which should see noticeably improved sound. Interest in Little Ann hasn't been so high for ten years or more, and it's all down to that man Gilly! (and Dave Hamilton of course)

Cleethorpes Weekender 1995 And 1996 Doris Troy And Tommy Hunt
Great, now I remember what happened, we were just going to have DJs but the Channel 4 documentary happening meant we brought her back up with her band. Thanks Ady

Cleethorpes Weekender 1995 And 1996 Doris Troy And Tommy Hunt
Yeah thanks, Doris defo did a PA in 95 but I'm sure her or Tommy performed with a group in 96 but it's not in the programme of that year.

Cleethorpes Weekender 1995 And 1996 Doris Troy And Tommy Hunt
20 years worth of sleevenotes is addling my brain. Can anyone remember if Tommy and Doris just did the PAs in 1995 or did one or the other of them come back and do a show with a band in 1996? The programme for that year indicates we just had DJs but I'm sure at least one of those acts played Cleggy with a group behind them. Help!?

Hytones Acetate Hear
True but sometimes there were no basic song demos. In the Ben E King case the writers were the producers and as they knew they were gonna give the song a full production anyway would have skipped the basic demo stage and give the publishers (in the UK it was Carlin) the full production job.

Hytones Acetate Hear
Lots of publishers acetates are full recorded versions of songs. Ben E King 'Gettin' To Me' being a case in point.

Hytones Acetate Hear
I could do with knowing who snagged it so that we could include it with our license with Eddie Frierson the last remaining Hytone who would benefit from the royalties on any sales. I thought it sounded like the same backing track of Good News with a slightly different vocal take. It would be good to hear the whole darn thang. Ady

Lee Fields
One of the best ever soul shows and the band of white thirty somethings were stunning, their two piece horn section sounded twice the size of the four piece who had been on before them. He's fantastic.

Lee Fields And The Expressions - Glasgow 06th April
He was utterly brilliant, one of the best live soul acts any of us had ever seen; and he didn't even do Take Me Back!

Buddy Lamp On Big Hit
Tis indeed Jock. I can relate that the Big Hit version of Do It Good is totally different to the Dave Hamilton tape we've got which is earlier 1970ish and more basic funk groove, the 1976 Big Hit version has a storyline lyric. The flip is a totally different song to the ballad coupling we found on the master tapes though both were Dave/Buddy compositions. The 45 is a blues ballad called 'This World Without You', the earlier master is a soul ballad called 'Somebody Is Wrong'. There you have it, the masters will be out on Kent CDs eventually
