  1. HI ALL......Not sure if this has been discussed before? Over the years I have had quite a few records on the great Philadelphia labels CAMEO PARKWAY, Having all relevant UK demos & issues, I'm fine about. However when it comes to the US product it's not that easy, for example"at the" & "do the Discoteque" as discussed before there are at least 8 different copies of the record that I have had. with east & west coast pressing plants makes putting a price or value a mine field. But putting that issue to one side, I would like to no for defiant about CAMEO DJ-COPY stamped on a normal issue, I have always assumed that these are much more rarer than white demos, as again, I have assumed that they are, let me say a bit moody for me? as way back in 73 I had a copy of BOBBY PARIS "NIGHT OWL" stamped DJ-COPY, the white Demos were all BOOTLEGS, If they were legit, more people wanted my copy every time, Here is my copy of the ORLONS "ENVY" with DJ-COPY, I am like the BOBBY PARIS sure that this is the original 1st issue DEMO, can anyone confirm this and add some history about both labels Promos & Demos that could help me in the future, please DAVE K
  2. HI ALL If you are about my age 60, you probably were into soul music, reggae & pop music as part of your teenage, and depending on where you lived, while growing up, the music you listen to at that time, has had a big impact on what you listen to to-day? Over the last 2 decades, those of you, not all, have become great followers of 70s Soul music that still retains the steady beat rhythms that we all loved in NORTHERN SOUL, However there are still some of us that get a kick from 60s MOD GROUPS, so my record to-day is a typical MOD style dancer, this record has eluded me for years, and would love to own a UK PAGE ONE copy, if anyone has a copy for sale? on PAGE ONE 104. My copy is on US FONTANA F-1565, the TREND - "SHOT ON SIGHT" Rated **** Value £15 for US copy, maybe more? ANY WAY, I BELIEVE IT'S NON PLAY OUT, MERRITS IT TO BE MY DISK OF THE DAY? GIVE IT A LISTEN PLEASE DAVE
  3. 100% CORRECT on both, srange thing is, I was playing the record 10 minutes ago while writing about the TRIPPS? SPOOKY VERY SPOOKY DAVE
  4. HI ALL I HAD A COPY IN MY SALES BOX. I showed it to BUTCH at the LIFELINE ALLNIGHTER he had to look very close at it (2 min) as they can fool most? thats why I say beware, I paid £3 for a copy in the 80s thinking at the time what a bargin!! DAVE
  5. HI The origanal is on SOUNDVILE RECORDS, a plain yellow label, and is rare, I was gonna put a scan up of my copy. but to knackard, HOWEVER BEWARE OF A GOOD LOOK A LIKE?
  6. https://youtu.be/JvLqsDXrWiA HI ALL ....How did this record land up in a collector of UK SOUL Records? Yhe answer has nothing to do with it being rare, indemand, or a must have.... It was an out of the blue prezzie from the trouble & strife, it's that sort of thing in life that we all love in a relationship well I do. I remember this on a 70s Soul Bowl list fo 85p. the record has great lyrics and is very soulful, infact the B side instremental is also great. the record is by KIM ESTON - DETROIT"" VOC & INST- RAHKIM RS-101. RARED **** VALUE £8, Agood record for any BOX. DAVE

HI ALL...As much as I detest BOOTLEGS I can't see anything wrong here!!!! Well I can, this Sprout is a chance, and it is working very well for him, Adam Faith, Ronnie Carrol, Shane Fenton & more advertised as Northern Soul, tells me that he is a clever |Trevor
  8. :hatsoff2:HI ALL here's a real oldie, that I have played at least twice a day, for the last month, when I started to play some LPs. remember them they are like a 7" 45.RPM but 12" and play at 33 1/3 RPM Plus they have about 7 tracks each side? I don't think this gimmick will catch on in our scene?? however the LP was full of Lupine records, very nice, and it is from playing that LP, that I looked through my 45s for the most played track, I could only find King Curtis "night train", so a quick visit to EBay and I got a replacement on me Matt in 2 days, A nice copy of EDDIE FLOYD - BYE BYE BYE - SPECIALITY SPE 1001.Rt ***** value £15+, this is a great club sound with a thumping beat, I recommend you play it on full volume a LOUD #11 on your amp I love this to bits, I really do! DAVE
  9. HI ALL....Yes it is very much a legit copy, I can remember buying this, way back in 1972, in the Pilgrims Pub in Bedford (an essential place to go to in the early days of our scene) I had been looking for the record, since late 1970, and at last I had found it, I paid 10/- or 50np, and I played the thing to death! it was not till I got to know Mick Smith very well, that I realised that it was a reissue, and the best bit, e showed me the real rare copy on a $tatside G&W DEMO, It took me another 15 years to get myself a DEMO! of Mick who else? DAVE
  10. Hi All....I have to go on record about this BLOG, To state to the Public, that I am so impressed with Pete's BLOG, that he must be congratulated for this venture, the site is true in style and taste of many record collectors, who are passionate about collecting UK Rare records, in particular is the eclectic composition and interpretation, of what unusual, obscure, and almost impossible to locate in the 21st Century, Like most things that Pete does, it is of a high standard, for all those who purchased the BEATIN RYTHM Fanzine (by far the best fanzine to be aimed at the Rare Soul punter, EVER!) I hope, in fact I insist that you all take time out and read it on a regular basis. CONGRATULATIONS PETE, DAVE KILWORTH
  11. HI ALL It's been some time since I put a record up! so I have picked this classic, that I got from BUTCH at KEELE a few years ago, again at a unrealistic price of £4. The 45 is by the INVERTS and I think that this copy is the 2nd issue? I am sure it was on a small label originally. The title is !look out baby" on the great TOWER LABEL sub of CAPITAL RECORDS, TOWER #324. Rated **** Value £50 issue, not seen a DEMO of this but it exists so I would say £60? this is a classic record, and guaranteed to hit the spot. DAVE
  12. it would look good with a Saphires gotta have your love. tams hay girl or Ray Whitney????? but I have only issues,so it has Kenny Lynch movin away DAVE
  13. HI PETE....I am not surprised by this, totally agree that the BEATLES records did not have them? or maybe 2 did, I know for fact that the BEATLES DEMO from PLEASE PLEASE ME! had a information sheet with each record, and yet they have never been included in any auction, that I have seen?? DECCA had similar sleeves as the EMI ones. the MGM is RARE, and although I have never had one, there is a $TATSIDE one, I have a picture of Jimmy (now then sad man) Saville holding it. they were from the period of 63 - 65 and I was offered £50 for one years ago, there are 2 different color variations, West Ham? & blue & black, I think they look good on certain records, like the 2 pictured?? To conclude there are many fakes out there, I have about 5 if you have a buyer 65/35 DAVE
  14. HI ALL....heres a good un! infact it's a great record, if you pay £4 Ebay Item number: 110806831150 now don't linger to long DAVE K
  15. HI ALL.... JOHN ANDREWS - A ROSE GROWING IN THE RUINS - PARLOPHONE R. 5455 A IT'S JUST LOVE - R. 5455 B. - SIMPSON-ASHFORD - UK RELEASE 20th May 1966 This is one of the top 10 UK Releases that still eludes the keen collector, and it is also one the Records that has never depreciated in price over the years, It is very hard to put a cash value on this record, as there have only been 2/3 sold in the last 5 years publicly? so my valuation of £400+ may be insulting to some of you, or bang on to others, Again it is my opinion that both ISSUE & DEMO copies are very rare, the question is it the rarest of the Rare UK Soul on Parlophone Records??. The DEMO is definitely rarer than Jimmy Thomas R.5773 as recent sales on EBay have shown, Also in the rare category of this record (similar price range) are certain BEATLES DEMOS such as "HELP" "HELLO GOODBYE" & above some of the others,?? However the money that BEATLES DEMOS go for does not reflect their true rare value?? As for the ISSUE (stock copy) Jimmy Thomas is much rarer? but to be truthful they seem to be equal, as I have only had 1 copy of it (from SWOZ) many years ago! and it is interesting that I swapped it with Mick Smith for a Mint DEMO??? I think back then the record was hardly known, and the first time that I read about it, was in BEATIN RYTHEM fanzine Editor Publisher & Pete Smith, who speaks with authority about the record and it's lyrics, he rated it above Jimmy Thomas back then? either way it's come along way since then and is now rated above most rare UK only, as for any released copies of the 2 songs by ASHFORD & SIMPSON there is non, and even if another version of "it's just love" dud turn up, there would not the demand for it, like there is for John Andrews? CHEER DAVE

Hi All I still have fond memorys of Leeds in the mid 70s, however surely there must be someone who can invite this potential customer to your drum to buy some unwanted sounds, why not knock up Pat Bradey, Tell im I said you had to let you in??? Dave
  17. Hi to all you GROOVIATES .....YES that's my new name for collectors who have style!!! Here's one from my MOTOWN Collection, YES! it's a bit TWEE, but good enough I think for you to listen to, as we all are aware, trying to find a top quality SOUL record on TAMLA MOTOWN is like ping into the wind? so I will just say here's a good Jr Walker & the All-Stars Record! issued in 1971 & getting a UK release in 1975 on TAMLA-MOTOWN TMG 889. i am sure that there is no G&W Demo, & I have not seen a B&Silver one??? this record as far as I am aware received no attention on the 2 SOUL scenes of the DAY, However, as I say it may be a sleeper, as I have not seen many copies for sale, so at best this record may be a CAR BOOT FIND or CHARITY SHOP, Jr Walker & the All-Stars - "don't forget the children" Value £1+ (worth more really) issue, Rated**** https://youtu.be/WxRWvnsedNE
  18. HI ALL It would seem SHIRELY WANTED IT BAD? Dave K

DECCA F-12332 the ANIMAL -"OUTCAST", Year 1966, Value £4 issue, DEMMO £15 Rated ***** I HOPE YOU DIG THIS, ALL YOU GROOVIATES, GREAT VOCAL POWER & BRILL BEAT 'N' RYTHEM TYPICAL TWISTED WHEEL CLUB SOUND PLAY LOUD THANKS DAVE K
  20. HI ALL What do you mean by end? has there been a Quantum Rare Soul All-nighter, As the Night never finishes? I am still Perkin from the LIFELINE event?? DAVE
  21. Hi All..I totaly agree with this being a great cheapies, I found my copy along with 25 other classics on Bilston Market 1981, 10p each & they all have a sticker on, with the name "Tiny Eastman" whoever he is he had some great records, as I have not sold any on? DAVE
  22. HI ALL HAVE A FEW, BUT FOR EVERY RIGHT REASON, THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST, & THE LP ? DAVE
  23. HI ALL First of all I assumed that the sound clip was not given and I have started, then I will check to see if it is this record? if you are into rareish versions of the song this has more appeal, and not to easy to find, It's 1 of 2 records that Duane Clark put out on the SPARK Label # SRL1158 A, 1978. I remember Rub Pheasant being surprised about this one when I played it few years back? value £10+ could be a biggie like his other release?????? DAVE PS;- i THOUGHT YOU WERE JOKING ABOUT jOHNY MATHIS, THIS is not the one you are looking for, b ut it's the best version shame I have not put a sound clip up?? :thumbup:Not the SAME but Better!
  24. Hi All Rob This Detroit record (or was it LA?) is and will probably remain a sleeper, and now & again someone will come across it and ask the question WHY does this not get played? I am sure it has, but like many of it's like, there are plenty of similar records out there to be found from the 70s, However I urge you all to give this a few plays, and you will discover it has a little bit more to it, to be put in the rejected box? A few years ago now! I used to meet up with a few local SOUL Collectors (Wolves area), one person in particular whose knowledge on Modern & crossover records was second to none, he did not just play a record, he would be able to tell you every fact about every record, and was years ahead of most people in the UK with his finds, most of which he never paid more than £1 each, he was the person who opened my ears to this one, and I am doing the same, the collector was Roger Nichols from Willenhall, so you cant get a better reference than a R N Rating ***** price about £30 upwards I don't think there is any difference in the price of DEMO & ISSUE, but the issue looks better to me, you may be able to get this even cheaper than the price I have given, but it's worth more? DAVE

HI MATE, First thing I must make clear to everyone, is to ask yourself an honest question, why did I by a f***ed copy & not a nice minty one? if the answer is "it's a bargain, & with a little restoration, it will be fine in my collection" "It's a rare record and if I manipulate some of it's flaws, and Mug it of on someone, as a Romany you will be stealing from me! PVA is a safe product & it works very well, & safe on all 45s & LPs never tried it on a 78 rpm record, the success and benefits on applying it, is in it's molecular structure, it wraps around any lose stuff that has built up over the life of the record, how it works is it lifts upwards all the gunge & away, not shifting it to the side? if a person wants to remove layers of face make up and get just their natural skin to show? they use a face pack, which works in the same way, PVA is similar to latex, a product of rubber, copydex may do the same job? never tried I have to go out, will be back to finish and answer all questions at 17.00 DAVE
