Ken if you have a UK ISLAND COPY, LOOK @ THE MATRIX, you should see the old SUE # scratched out and the ISLAND cat# written over it? are you following me!, in the early 8ts i found a blank label copy of this?? I don't think I will come any closer to a blank SUE RECORD. as such and because it is cut from the SUE stamper it is hard to value, as anyone could make a blank record yes? as it has a small piece of writing on the label, i cant show copy as it's proof of being a genuine ISLAND pre release:thumbsup: As for the RANDY WOOD cnx I think that he remade most of his artist old records to the latest beat, this enabled him to make more $$$ from his artists, in fact muchmore. is he dead or alive? Hi All, - PETE...I think you have a good point here!.. I have bought Records as you no for 40+. And Jere has always been unwritten protocol about Buying Selling & Dealing in genral...(1) Buying from a Dealer at a Record Fair / Venue I have always haggled when buying. it's a recognized part of collecting, and if for example want a record,I have often haggled a Dealer with a low price just to allow my mate to up the price! but still get it cheap (putting doubt about the Sellers pricing always works} it works the other way around when selling records for others as discounts will effect my 10% earnings? (2) Dealers Lists I have had lists from Mick Smith & Will Johnson for many years now, if I use Mick Smith as a good example over the many years of our friendship and having spent £100's with him, he has never gave me preferential treatment as this would go strongly against his personal principles of running or putting out his list,and if I have got discount from him it has been his personal design, this is because he offers records at a decent price and from my personal point of view it's just not done. many dealers who are selling very rare records will not price them, but put the word OFFERS instead. So thats what I think, one final point is, over the last few weeks Petes list has had a few records that I would have liked to buy from him, but due to financial issues I have not been able to bid, and the have sold for 2/3 of there value? asking for discount from him is a plus take if you ask me!! I think most people have the Salvador's, Sister Lee and so on as pressings, even if like me you used to have quite a few TOP OLDIES as originals, I would rather play a vinyl pressing than a CD, Any time, my point is that some are very collectible, having the complete run of the Soul Sounds label is a good challenge as is Out of the Past, Just don't play em out and don't get ripped of on this 2nd issue /release it's a scam, to lull you into thinking that it is rare a bit like East & West Coast records Differ?? but they are FAKE:ph34r:DAVE KIL

Hi All..The subject of this topic is 2nd ISSUE?? Whatever it means it is not what at first you think it means? .. I have noticed this term being applied to almost all early/mid 7ts Counterfeits & Bootlegs! in some cases the record may well be a legitimate reissue or a special reissue run for the UK market. However to me it's Ebay speak for not being the real deal!. A few years back a 2nd ISSUE meant a Foreign release, many SOUL Purist would refer to UK labels as 2nd ISSUES, & Inferior to the 1st US Record??? However as I say to-day it is a sales pitch to try and justify the status of 7ts reissues made for the NORTHERN SOUL SCENE,??. I would also state the point that to DJ With any record that does not have a Rare Soul Pedigree, used to be a big no! no! and to play reissues Dub Plates and so on is delusional & Taking the Piss out of the paying public especially if this has become the norm for certain DJs..
