Todays offering: Great version of the old Mary Wells Motown outing. Same group as on Bandera, Lovelite and Cottillion. Not many covers rival Ms Wells' but this one does. Great looking label too. Anyone ever seen a promo? Regards, Dave https://youtu.be/s2wIz8Y682E

This morning's offering: Great mid tempo femme vocal. Have a 10" acetate with another take of this which is also excellent. More great soul that sounds like it's gonna cost you $$$ for the price of a Mars bar! Love it! https://youtu.be/OtE4iW4hD3U

This morning's offering: Powerful gospel tinged song that when I've interviewed some soul artists has been quoted by more than one with ..."Wish I'd written that!". This version isn't from some far flung corner of Mississippi but from a group of ladies in London, UK! I've included a link to the Black Voices website if anyone wants to investigate further. https://blackvoices.co.uk/ "My Light Will Shine So Bright It Will Blind You" Regards, Dave

Acrobatics
Surely the acrobatics stem from the performances of the black music artists in the States? JW, JB were probably the first ones to have UK exposure but the acrobatic dancing to black music goes waaaay back to reels and jigs on the plantations. Thing is when you're a young teenager in the North of England rammed into a old ballroom, you tend to imagine that you've invented it all. That's only natural. A quick search around the internet would blow that theory out of the water. This second clip is from 1894!! Even JW had to have some starting point! Regards, Dave https://youtu.be/0zu0dmom4og https://youtu.be/2rnC-3-6e4Q

This morning's offering: One that gets a regular play at Hitsville's Sunday Mid Tempo Soul Brunch. Another one that if you've not heard before will have you scurrying to Ebay. Mr Cunningham is still performing too. Quality for the price of a bag of chips. Just how we like 'em! ;-) Regards, Dave

I've played it out a few time over the yeras and it always gets the same response "Gonna get me of those". Regards, Dave https://youtu.be/DuTxQS15CY4

Tomangoes, Ellingtons, Popcorn Wylie Etc Grapevine Demos
Just played in through my Technics decks and Bose speakers. Plays a tad quieter than normal is all. Whacked it up a notch - sounded great. Probably first time this one has ever been played. Regards, Dave

Tomangoes, Ellingtons, Popcorn Wylie Etc Grapevine Demos
Sorry should have made that clear. Nabay seems to be the one that fetches the most money, but I rate the Tomangoes Demo as one of the hardest 45s to find on the label. Regards, Dave

Tomangoes, Ellingtons, Popcorn Wylie Etc Grapevine Demos
Have these from a collection I bought a while back. All are DEMOS and just about MINT-. Unfortunately there's no original Grapevine sleeves with em so they'll come in generic white card sleeves. In my opinion The Tomangoes is the hardest Demo on the label to find. Much harder than Nabay. Prices in UKP. Full refund if not 100% happy, Paypal as 'gift' and I'll do the postage. Via PM or email hitsville2648@earthlink.net if interested. Popcorn Wylie - Rosemary What Happened b/w Instr. - GRP 100 20UKP The Lovelites - Get It off My Concience b/w Oh What A Day - GRP107 20UKP The Ellingtons - Destined To Become a Loser b/w Millionaires - You've Got To Love My Baby - GRP 114 20UKP The Tomangoes - I Really Love You b/w You've Been Gone so Long - GRP 122 40UKP The Thrills - What Can Go Wrong b/w Show The World Where It's At - GRP 126 20UKP Or 90UKP for all 5. This morning's offering: Great midtempo from a group that I think originally contained Tamala Lewis in the line up, (as The Pets). Discovered by Bill Lovett and produced by the NJ maestro Joe Evans. Real top notch quality, all of their outings. Regards, Dave

Gonna be a bit cheeky and post 2 this morning. Don't know anything about this group but the song originally came out on Paradox Records. It's currently getting some hammer in my record room. Fantastic lilting horn playing. Regards, Dave

This morning's offering: Yet another cover version but one that doesn't just regurgitate the original. A great song that is really given new life by both the arrangement (backing vocals are sooperb), and Eric's almost Teddy like vocal. And all this for the price of a sherbert dip (ask yer Dad!). Love it. Regards, Dave

Hip Pocket Soul 45S - Wilson Pickett & Mitch Ryder

This mornings offering: Fantastic song, written by a man who's memory haunts me. He lived 5 miles from me for 5 years and I only discovered this when I attended his funeral. Done by countless artists and it's difficult to find a poor version the song is that good. One of my top 10 songs of all time. Almost disco but not quite in my book. Quality record for the price of a bag of crisps. Love it. Regards, Dave
