  1. Thanks guys. so it seems i have a Vinyl re-issue and it does have Don't Lead Me On on the flip. To decide which box it goes in, is this a leagal 2nd press or just another counterfeit that needs to go in the dodgy box?
  2. Looking through my JM Bootleg guide, issue 3 this weekend as i was sorting through a couple of boxes of records and got a bit confused. Is it a fact that all Styrene has stick on labels that you can feel with your finger nail? The reason i ask is that i was just educating myself and thought i would compare the JM guide with some of my boot legs and identify the differences strated in the book. When i went to check my Johnny hampton on Dotty's i got a bit confused. The guide stated that the original was yellow label moulded over vinyl and that there was a look a like boot that was styrene. Mine has a moulded label but can see a matrix stamp. As i said i always thought it was a boot but couldn't apply all the criteria in the guide. Any help appreciated. Mark.
  3. Isn't bidpay the western union money order backed payment method. you put your auction item number the auction site info and the amount incl postage. they then charge you a commission. I've used this a couple of times, again not for large sums but never had any problems.
  4. Not sure about the first side, but the second side on the clip really hit the spot

  9. I loved the trip to Shotts, diverting on the way to Moffat so we all could be "offit in moffat". Remeber one slow saturday night in my flat in Warrington, me Jumpin Joan and i think it was Pete, there was nothing else on and at around 1 in the AM i took Petes car keys off him (his Golf GTI pride and joy it was), stuffed him and joan into the back and drove all the way to shotts, got there at about 4 in the morning, no one was expecting anyone to turn up at that time so we were celebs for the night Sure i took Edwin up there on one trip too

  15. Just pulled out my copy of Gettin Ready on Columbus, and can't for the life of me remember if the original has ALL Capitals in the run out or a mix of upper and lower case. I know JM described it in his auction recently but i didn't get time to check my copy!!! Much appreciated.
  16. Yate Stars and Stripes was my first all nighter, at the Stars and Stripes, my mun used to dorp me, Dave Taylor (short guy who eventually went to London as a professional dancer) another lad called Andy and Zahid Shaikh who was the younger brother of Abed Shaikh. Then she would pick us up the next day with a flask of soup, We were only 13 / 14 at the time And was Gabby the guy who worked in trendy clothes shop in Gloucester and ran riot at the Wheelrights soul nights? If so I had been in town (Gloucester) for a lunch time session (was a bit older then) went nad had my hair dyed, it was meant to be dark blue almost balck even, it didn't take properly, but Gabby persuaded me it looked the dogs nads. So he came out of the shop to watch me walk up Northgate Street with Turquoise hair, still have an image of him wetting himself so much that he was knocking over pedestrians in an effort to stand up. Went straight to boots and dyed it jet black
  17. Bought all mine since '85 so don't have the "really big ticket" items. Do however have some of value, I have 1300 + 7" and about 500 12" and LP's, even with an average value of £10 still a hefty sum. I have never sold a single thing, done a few trades along the way, and regretted every one of them, not for not liking the records i traded for, but regretting not having the ones i had anymore, if thak makes sense In summay, there's a spread sheet somewhere and wifey (who has limited interest in the genre) has a couple of contact names who i trust to giver her a fair deal on. But i'm only 40 so buggered if anyone's getting them for another 40 years
  18. For me its the Chicago stables of M-Pac, One-Der-Ful etc, also the Soulville label put out a consitent array of tunes.

Just spotted Chuck Corby & Quiet Storm - See You When i Get There on Pat Brady's site. Listed at £25 a great tune.
  20. Luke Day was a Dave Thorley spin at the Top of the world, i've had one since then and get it out now and again for a spin. Very distinctive sound that people either seem to love or hate.

If you don't get Bell Bros by the weekend i'll dig my copy out and post it up fer ya.
  22. Went down to Grenwich Village last November. Found the famous House of Oldies - the bloke running it wouldn't let me near his stock, it was locked away in the basement after the fifth request for him to go looking for stuff he got bored and started chatting to his buddies. Found Finyl Vinyl and a few other places, got the standard response "all the good stuff went over to the UK years ago". On a plus note, i found a couple of local demo 12" that weren't bad.
  23. There's a copy of I Believe in you on ebay at the moment, it's a silver colour. The one i've seen is yellow, has it ever been booted or is it different pressing plants etc?

I have been collecting since 14, just finished doing a CD for an old pal, some rare stuff, guitar ray etc, along side some quality "cheap" stuff, Bad Boys, Flair & Flatfoots etc, any of which i have played out, in the dim and distant past when i got the odd "collectors" spot. I have only ever traded records, and even though i got more items in return for some current big value choon's i still regret every one i've ever let go. I scour ebay and other lists for stuff at the right price and quality for instance nabbed Ruby Winters - In the middle of a heartache for £10, that went straight onto the CD, I'm happy to sustain my habit in this way, but would i pay big money for sounds that i really wanted.......if i won the lottery too bloody right
