  1. Yes, that's the copy I got from you and yes, the soundclip is taken straight from the 45. It really does look like TOTAL hell though. It's one of the few issue copies as well that I've seen of "Love Addict", seems to be mostly demo copies around.

In the cases of Wade Flemmons and Betty Moorer I totally understand it, especially since the falsetto lead on Impalas "Speed Up" seems to get on most peoples nerves. Darrell has always been cheaper and easier than Doni, hasn't it? Apart from the fact that it's rarer, it's strange that Doni goes for so much considering that Darrell's has got a far superior vocal (IMO ofcourse... ). Very strange with the Shane Martin though, the Jimmy Webb version has got a punchier, moodier arrangement and better vocals, and it's still a £5 record. He's one of my all-time favourite song writers and most of his own recordings are superb as well.
  3. Both Cecil Lyde and Jewel are MONSTER tunes in my opinion! Especially Cecil Lyde is on the "underplayed" side of things. Still haven't managed to locate myself a copy of the Jewel 45...
  4. I'm Gonna Get Your Love - charles jackson - capitol 16048 refosoul Sounds very good when played next to King Tutt "You Got Me Hung Up". A bit tricky to pick up on 7" but not expensive.
  5. I'm Gonna Get Your Thing (Get You) - lee harris - forte 16047 refosoul Here's an alternative version of the Marva Whitney tune, with different lyrics and vocals by Lee Harris instead. I think the Lee Harris take on this backing track is the best one out there, it was re-used at least 5 times by different artists on the Forte label. Lee Harris put out a tune called "I'm Gonna Get You" on SWAN under the name of Leroy Harris which has got the same lyrics as in this clip but a very different backing track.
  6. I wish more music sounded like this. Absolutely bloody superb tune and a big favourite of mine!
  7. You Better Stop It - barbara mason - arctic 15869 refosoul Posted this some days ago in another thread, but here it is again.
  8. Love Addict - honey & the bees - arctic 16039 refosoul MONSTER TUNE! Yes, my copy looks like crap, but it plays like a dream and cost me $10 so...
  9. Shake That Thing - winfield parker - arctic 16038 refosoul One of my faves on the label. Far superior to the Honey & The Bees version in my opinion (released as "Baby Do That Thing").
  10. Considering that I seldom play out-and-out stompers at home, the demo is fine with me as it has got the best of the two tracks on it. Saying that, I wouldn't mind an issue copy. Will not ever pay £300 for it though.
  11. £30-ish should get you one, but probably goes cheaper on eBay as there isn't really any demand for it despite being a superb tune. Have seen it for more though, one copy on Gemm right now for $140.
  12. It's quite hard to find as it is only included on the issue copies and goes for about £300. The actual "a-side" which can be found on both sides of the much cheaper demo copies is another great tune though and well worth checking out. Soundclip of "Take My Love" below: 14380 refosoul
  13. Thank you everyone! Really appreciate the comments.

I agree. Don't want to get into an Abba discussion here, but in my opinion they did lots of good stuff. Genius pop music at times.

    Mine doesn't.

I guess you're thinking of soul related stuff... but the most expensive 12"s I've seen sell are pop/rock related. Stuff like Madonna's "Erotica" picture disc, U2's "Out Of Control" and Abba's "Sang Till Gorel" - all of them £1500+ pieces.
  17. You Better Stop It - barbara mason - arctic 15869 refosoul Noticed that this fine funky crossover 45 is selling for quite a bit these days!!!
  18. You're My Baby (And Don't You Forget It) - reflections - golden world 15866 refosoul Didn't know if I should post this up or not, as it is pure pop or maybe more of a "mod" tune with a blasting organ break etc. But I really like this, and it's on a collectable label. An extremely cheap 45.
  19. So Much Love - faith hope & charity - maxwell 15865 refosoul I've been playing the shit out of this track during the past week. Van McCoy goodness on a 45 which under no circumstances should cost more than £5. I love this!!!
  20. It's a nice tune but I wouldn't want to hear it in a soul club. I wouldn't mind a copy of the 45 though.
  21. Me too! Don't cover up records.
  22. Love Never Looked Better - trilark - handshake 15762 refosoul Here's a soundclip if anyone wants to hear it.
  23. Probably about 6 years ago there was a discussion about it on the Essential Modern Soul mailing list and many said that it was LP/12"-only. Can't say that I've been chasing it, but was happy when I found it. Cost me $8. Do you have the issue copy with "Sweat It Out" on the flip?
  24. It's "Find Myself Another Girl" by The Sonics on the Valmon label.
