  1. Just checked my archived AdvancedNorthernSoul mailing list mail... and there it is... a post from August 16, 2001 and a link to a very lazy faked label scan of the supposed-to-exist Magnificent Men 45. A couple of things gives it away: 1) the tune is actually written by Ronnie Douglas 2) the orchestra is actually arranged and conducted by Horace Ott and Sonny Sanders 3) a Capitol number in the 3200-series would date it to either 1955 or 1971 (they started to re-use their catalogue numbers!) 4) there are two other known 45s with the catalogue number 3224. Here's the labelscan:
  2. Here you go: https://www.shingaling.com/BadHabits-IDontWantToDiscussIt.mp3 It's for sale by the way if anyone needs it. £15 including shipping. Absolutely love Little Richard's version, one of my all-time faves. Lots of nice tunes by him from that same time... "I Need Love", "Get Down With It", "Land Of A Thousand Dances"... total mayhem. And then slightly later on Brunswick... love his "Try Some Of Mine", top funky stuff.
  3. About 10-11 hours left on these auctions now. Thanks for looking!
  4. Did the (in my opinion superior) flipside get any plays ("Can't Shake The Feeling") or was that more of a Garage/Loft kinda thing? Love that tune.
  5. "I played it first", "no I did", "hell no, I did", "give me credit", "no give ME credit"...
  6. A friend of mine has got a bunch of rare and in-demand 45s on eBay at the moment: Brice Coefield - Ain't That Right - OPEN Ringleaders - Baby, What Has Happened To Our Love - M-PAC Quotations - I Don't Have To Worry - DI VENUS Roger Hatcher - Sweetest Girl In The World - EXCELLO Frances Nero - Keep On Lovin Me - SOUL Startones - Lovin You Baby - BILLIE FRAN Feel free to check them out at: https://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthinfrogQQhtZ-1

  8. WOW! That was fast. It'll be interesting to see what it goes for.
  9. It's extremely hard to find and copies just doesn't come up for sale. Based on rarity and quality alone I'd say £300+, but it's hard to estimate because it's almost completely unknown (so could sell very cheap) and no copies are being sold. "Funky Soul Dance" is indeed a screaming funk dancer, but the flipside "Never Do I Worry (About You)" is an agressive and frantic soul dancer.
  10. Got my copy (plus 9 other 45s in a "lot") about 18 months ago on eBay for $20.50 including shipping. Who said that bargains can't be had on eBay anymore...? Anyway... on the topic of Curly Moore, today I finally got a copy of his "Soul Train" 45 on the Hotline label (not the Nola issue, which is a pretty tough one in its own right). Pretty much all of his 45s are great in my opinion. Top New Orleans stuff.
  11. Is it on a Venture 45 as well? Isn't the original release on a Big C 45? And it's not THAT hard surely? A copy sold quite cheap (under $15) on eBay just a couple of months back. Also on a reissue 45 on Ronn. Nice tune!
  12. What a storming tune!!! Decent mid-tempo flip as well.

Robert Darden's book People Get Ready!: A New History of Gospel Music" is absolutely essential reading for anyone interested in the history of gospel music in particular and the roots of african american music in general. Thoroughly researched and well written (although a bit "academic" at times). Check it out: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0826414...8&s=gateway
  14. How do you spot a Nancy Wilson counterfeit? I've always been suspicious about my copy...

Yes, that Harlem River Drive tune sure is fab!. Glad you liked it, sounded awesome last friday. As for the club I run, here's the homepage if you're interested: https://www.clubunderstanding.com/ All of the text is in swedish, but there are photos, flyers, lots of sound clips and a bunch of 60-minute MP3-mixes for downloading if you look around a bit... the music policy is supposed to be all over the place, but it turns out 90% soul, funk, disco and r&b most of the nights anyway... by the way "lyssna" means "listen"... good luck...

I played Harlem River Drive's "Seeds Of Life" on Roulette this past friday at my club and it sounded absolutely magnificent. Great booming sound. Have a listen to a short clip: https://homepage.mac.com/lscott/jukebox/Seeds_Of_Life.mp3

Don't think I've ever played that side of the 45 earlier... so just dug it out and indeed, it's a nice dancer. Still prefer the a-side "Last Night Changed It All". Sorry, not for sale, but thanks for the tip. Shouldn't be too hard to locate, a M- copy went through eBay just the other day for $51.
  19. Lovely piece of 80s! In fact, every single track on the LP which that tune is included on is great. 21. Thanks, Karl. Anyone know the deal with Sabata? The 12" has got both a "short" and "long" version on it, so a 7" wouldn't be entirely out of the question I guess.
  22. Frederick "Move On" on HEAT! WHAT a bloody nice tune!!! And still cheap as chips. Love it!!!
  23. Does anyone of you know if these tunes are available on 7" or if they were only released on 12"? Sabata - Man For My Lady - TSOB Vance And Suzzanne - I Can't Get Along Without You - VANTON And if anyone has got them for sale, please PM me. Thanks.
