It's unissued and acetate (mastertape?) only. Don't know how many original acetates there are out there, but I think it's just one copy. Or perhaps it was only on mastertape? It was bootlegged on a white label 45 a bunch of years ago.

The reason I'm asking is because I have a copy of this on Wirl that I've had for quite a while. I've never put much thought into this LP and it's just been sitting here, but as I was preparing to put it on eBay I started to do some research and found out that both a UK Wirl and UK Doctor Bird pressing is supposed to exist. Does anyone know for sure? Come to think of it... perhaps the WIRL issue is from somewhere else in the West Indies? But the machine stamped matrix markings "looks UK". In any case, here is my WIRL copy, housed in a heavy carboard (jamaican?) BMN sleeve with "paste-over" front:

According to some discographies I've seen, the "Sensational Maytals" LP was issued in 1965 by both WIRL and DOCTOR BIRD in the UK. As Wirl DBL 1003 and Doctor Bird BLM 5003. Is that correct? And if so, which came first? Thanks in advance.

Someone seems to have scooped up all his copies (not me, by the way!). Or perhaps Don has seen this thread...

Another give-away is that the bootleg has got DISC JOCKEY and NOT FOR SALE on the label. The original issues doesn't. Perhaps it was booted from the elusive white demo copy and then printed on yellow paper?

They will only charge the insertion fee if the item doesn't sell. And that is only £0.35 for a £50000 item with a £75000 buy it now, so not much of a risk. This only applies to ebay.co.uk.

OK, that's strange! Works alright for me. Perhaps you have to make the changes on both the .co.uk and .com sites? I don't know. I'm Sebastian by the way, not Benji.

I wonder what their stance will be if you claim that it is borrowed but very valuable goods that has been sent back to you? I mean, if there isn't a receipt in the package, how can customs be certain that the item has actually been purchased? It might be a gift from someone despite being sent with a $2500 insurance! Or indeed a friend sending back a valuable record that they have borrowed. Oh well!

Just so you're aware of this in case you don't know it: the sound quality on the LEE JOHN label 45 is shockingly thin on the "Birth Of A Playboy" track compared to the MAPLE and CANYON issues. It's the exact same recording on all three 45s, but the LEE JOHN 45 suffers from very poor mastering.

Most M- copies that turns up of this on eBay sell for £200-£250, and it turns up frequently. Lesser condition copies usually sell for less. Why not just incorporate the PayPal fee (4%) into the sale price? Make it £10.50 instead of £10. £52 instead of £50. £210 instead of £200. I know that those prices looks a bit odd, but at least the buyers will not have the feeling of being charged even more for something that just makes the sellers life more practical. While you're at it you might as well incorporate the shipping cost into the sales price and state "FREE SHIPPING AND NO PAYPAL FEES". That's in essence what all major retailers (and the grocery store around the corner) do, because it makes the item(s) psychologically more appealing and it will without a doubt entice more customers.

Also have in mind that both sides on this 45 are getting plays at the moment.
