I think his version on the SONET 45 is decent (and superior to anything on the Harlem Kiddies EP) but obviously too slow to be suitable for a dancefloor. I just think it's amazing that a swedish/danish artist recorded a cover of "My Baby Likes To Boogaloo" in the mid-60s. I guess he must've learned/heard it when Don Gardner and Dee Dee Ford toured Sweden at that time. King George/Harlem Kiddies might even have been their backing band for those dates, I'm trying to get more info on that. Have you heard the more uptempo funky take of "My Baby Likes To Boogaloo" and the storming "It Ain't Right" off the swedish "King George Discovery" LP? There's some good stuff on the danish Harlem Kiddies LP on SONET as well. Also worth checking out is "Last Train To Georgia" with his band Red, White and Blues plus both sides of the "I'm The Best" 45. His early 80s LP is best to avoid...

I'm not trying to be picky, I just really wanted to know if the MICA issue utilised a different recording than the Jerhart/Impression 45. There's a big difference between a "mix" and a "take" when it comes to studio/recording lingo.

If that's recorded from the MICA issue (I've never had that 45 myself), then it's the exact same take as on the JERHART and IMPRESSION issues. It just sounds a bit "clearer" and the vocal sounds more seperated from the backing track. Much heavier compression used on the Jerhart/Impression releases perhaps, or is the Mica release in stereo?

I guess you're right about that it's impossible to tell sealed copies apart. But if you have the record in front of you or can e-mail the seller, then just ask (or see) what is etched in the run-out groove.

No, you can tell the difference between them by just looking at the vinyl. The matrix details are different. You should look for the following matrix number in the run-out groove if you want to have the uptempo version that is in-demand: S-9014-A (-2) I don't have the "wrong" LP at hand, so can't tell you what the "wrong" matrix number is, but I seem to remember that it doesn't have the "(-2)" part mentioned above. Perhaps someone that has got the "wrong" version can post up the matrix details on their copy?

There are some nice moments on the "My Love Is Your Love" album though. Especially the title track, "It's Not Right But It's OK" and "Get It Back".

The "Live At Harlem Square Club" album is a masterpiece from beginning to end in my opinion. If you'd like to hear his grittier side as a solo artist then definitely check that LP/CD out.
