My theory is that the original Linda issue actually sold very well in California upon release in 1965 and remained popular in that region throughout the 60s (or perhaps more likely, the flipside), prompting Rampart (a subsidiary label to Faro Records who also owned the Linda label) to give it a new go in 1969, and when the Rampart release started shifting units Warner Bros showed interest and released it nationally (but edited out the fanfare intro because it perhaps sounded a bit too "dated" in 1969). I might ofcourse be totally wrong, but those are my thoughts about this.

Sellers Who Charge For Paypal
I agree. Just do what pretty much every store owner that accept credit card payments do to everything in their store: add the card processing fee to the list price, in PayPal's case roughtly 5%, and don't tell the people who read the sales list. If you want £40, list it as £42. If you want £100, list it as £105. If you want £2000, list it as £2100. To pay £100 more or less when someone is already up for paying £2000 for something doesn't make much difference in my experience.

Showmen
I didn't mean it to read that way. What I meant was that Lost Nite also was a 60s label that reissued tunes that were popular in a specific region. I have no comment regarding if all of Lost Nite's releases were legal or not.

Idle Few - People Thats Why - Blue Book
No, the dark blue one (with the raised-backwards-S-in-a-circle matrix stamp) was pressed in New York by Shelley Products. Same plant that pressed Shrine 45s etc.

Showmen
As you stated above, what makes things confusing is that BB and ITZY were (just like LOST NITE) indeed legit labels, and they did issue legit 45s that were't issued on any other labels. But they also re-issued/bootlegged tunes that were popular in the Pittsburgh area and ITZY is actually still going, but are now releasing CDs with "Pittsburgh oldies". Both the Showmen 45s on BB and ITZY are bootlegs/reissues released in the 60s. The SWAN releases are the originals.

Jodi Mathis
Was "God Is Love" issued in the UK? Have never seen a copy of that. As far as I know it's only available on the issue copy of the US release (the demos are mono/stereo of the "wrong" side).

By the way: the BB label release of "Take It Baby" is a bootleg, NOT an earlier "local label" release as it often is listed as.

Earliest Northern Soul 45s
I agree, those are good examples of early tunes that have gained mass acceptance, but Charles Sheffield is from 1961 and Richard Berry is from 1960. Little Willie John "I'm Shakin" perhaps? It's from 1960.

Pressing 45,s
I suppose you can ask to have the master stamper mailed to you from the pressing plant you use, but the few times I have pressed 45s, the master stampers have stayed at the pressing plant in case I wanted to press more copies of that 45. I never have done any represses of those 45s, so I guess the stampers are still with the pressing plant or has been destroyed by now. By the way, a stamper wears out after a while and a new one has to be made.

I've got that 45, but I'm heading out the door in a moment, so will record it during the weekend and post the tunes on here.

Just out of interest, is it "Runaway" that you're talking about? I only have the short 1:20 clip that was in the auction (which I guess a lot of other people have as well) but if anyone would like to hear it I could put it in refosoul? Let me know. If it's not that tune, then just ignore this...

This Weeks Manships
It's a good ballad/stepper for sure, but not something I would ever play to a dancefloor.

Soul Music Rip
Creepy... I had their "When You're Near Me I Have Difficulty" blasting out of my speakers when I read your post!

This Weeks Manships
Yes, but that was probably just one lucky eBay seller... (it sold for $361 but just 3 days earlier a copy in better condition sold for $90). Would be interesting to see how much the 7" of Allan Harris could fetch in a Manship auction.

Styrene Or Vinyl
Snap some well-focused photos of the record labels in question, post them here, and we can all chip in about which are vinyl and which are styrene. Or failing that: see the first reply in this thread.

Styrene Or Vinyl
Yes, this only applies to the US releases. I'll try to find a label scan of a styrene LP. I've never seen a non-US styrene record.
-
Styrene Or Vinyl
Yes, styrene LPs does exist (with stick-on labels just like on 45s). Most copies I've seen of Betty Everett's "I Need You So" LP on SUNSET have been pressed on styrene. I've read that many of the Sunset label LPs were pressed on styrene.

Styrene Or Vinyl
If there's an edge on the outer part of the label where you could peel it off if you wanted to = it's styrene. If the label is moulded into the record and you can't peel it off no matter how much you wanted to = it's vinyl. But then there are also the Amy/Mala/Bell-distributed styrene 45s that have got "painted labels", i.e.:

How Many Copies Known?
Earlier this year when you asked about this 45 here on SoulSource I did a "completed items" search in eBay and a black issue copy of the Don Covay 45 on Landa had sold just a couple of weeks earlier. It sold for less than $30, but was in poor condition. I thought that I had saved the label scan, but can't find it now. I did however definitely see it. I'll post up the scan if I find it.

Elvis At Stax Records . .
He did two sessions at Stax Studios, the first in July 1973 and the second in September 1973. These recordings can be found on three of his albums - "Raised On Rock" (1973), "Good Times" (1974) and "Promised Land" (1975).
