  1. Why would anyone complain about you playing original vinyl? The other way round yes but this is a new one on me
  2. Theres a previous thread bout this John if you do some searching around. I think the consensus was that this was an 80s pressing. Its strange that JMs book doesn't mention it
  3. Lydia Marcelle sorted, thanks
  4. Lydia Marcelle - Its Not Like You (Manhattan) Tony Talent - Gotta Tell Somebody (Vando) Anyone got these to sell at a competitive price? Must be M- though, not interested if any marks at all and labels must be near perfect Cheers Both sorted now
  5. OK Roger I just assumed it was a monarch pressing, so much for that theory
  6. Can anyone post the delta number? (the soussan pressing) then we can date it?
  7. Jesus, I've just thought in two years that will be 40 years for me
  8. I know its not kosher but I still think its a great instrumental
  9. My first exposure to northern was in the summer holidays of 74 at our youth club and one of the first records I've always associated with that time is The Same Old Thing instrumental by Fred Smith Orchestra. However John Manship's site has this down as a 76 pressing (which should be accurate with the delta number) Was this played on anything before Soussans pressings were sent over here? Is my memory playing tricks on me? Was it played pre 76? Any memories of this appreciated
  10. I remember a thread from a few years back where doubt was cast on the legality of some UK label 60s issues that had always been thought of as cast iron legit. A can of worms indeed, I suppose 100% certainty isn't possible in any of this.
  11. Has everyone just always assumed these were legal issues Steve? What about other Googa Mooga records, Eddie Parker etc?

Garv are you really a woman? My mrs is excessive but she has nowhere near that many Me I've got one pair for going out that I've had for ten years and a couple of casual pairs! I bet I havent had 60 pairs of shoes in my entire life
  13. Well there is that, plus he got me backstage to meet Don Gardner et al
  14. And he's a very nice chap as well!
  15. Been listening to some 70s cds in the car lately for a change (mainly a 60s person) I started to wonder why the trend towards longer record times came about, what were the writers thinking and why change? Irrespective of your taste and whether you like these records or not some of them go on for so long and are so repetitive, doesn't it do your head in after a bit? So what I'm asking really is even if you like the 70s records doesn't it get on your nerves after 4 mins or so? Give me 2mins 30secs, wham bang thank you ma'am any time! Disclaimer:- this thread is not intended as another 60s v 70s debate, any move in that direction will be due to individual posters and the thread starter will accept no responsibility for any such circumstances arisng
  16. After all the hype it didn't reach reserve
  17. Must be M- no marks and with clean labels at a reasonable price (hopefully) Sorted as above
  18. Looking for original M- copies of International GTO's - I Love My Baby & James Bounty - Prove Yourself a Lady Must be M- with no marks and clean labels or I'm not bothered. Both these are for sale on major dealers websites so I'm looking for competitive prices if anyone has em to sell. Cheers
  19. Crikey its a rumour factory! Anyone watch celebrity juice? This reminds me of where they have to sit on the toilet and pass on a message that they cant actually hear due to them wearing headphones (if you've seen it you'll know what I mean)
  20. I've got em both but if I had to pick one it would definitely be Manship's because of the label scans for bootleg identification
  21. Whats worth more than a kidney that I can manage without? I agree Harry - all time great, wish I could afford one

  23. No reason for anything to turn unpleasant Kev, were you involved in working with any of these reissues? I'm genuinely interested in any info you've got about the era, as a young un it all went over my head at the time
  24. On the recent thread that Brian Phillips started about one of his sales lists from Jan 74 I noticed he put a comment "just going big" about The Persians - I Cant Take it Anymore. Did it go big? I never heard it way back then although 74 was my youth club time . Any of you who were there remember it getting plays, even for a short time? It certainly (in my experience) doesnt get a look in at oldies events that hammer to death the popular records from that time (Why not?) Great record IMO
