  1. The remaining 45s from this store in Wisconsin after in closed in 2004..... some very good blind buys in amongst it. I also thought a certain US Armed Forces radio station library had to be good & it was.
  2. it's common & cheap dude, you can get it no probs......
  3. yeah, at stores in the states, "let me just look up these soul 45s......... they don't seem to be in this price guide.... $2 each" not so much these days of cfrenzy & popsike.
  4. ok, let's start to perpetuate the rumor on here that anything not listed is common & cheap, make it a sticky at the top of the sales forum, like the grading thread...
  5. weird that the DeVons 45 isn't in Manship's Price Guide either, must be too common.
  6. i think it's a bad tape edit on the backing track. didn't think it was the plates at the time because i couldn't see anything overly crooked/wobbled at those points. I think it happens 3 times in total, when it happens under the vocals I think it just gets hidden better.
  7. nah, i grabbed a bunch of unplayed ones from Amoeba & they all do it on each time the organ turnaround bit (like you hear near the start occurs), pretty sure it'll be all of them from a bad master edit because I checked with someone elses unrelated copy too & now yours.
  8. the jump near the start of this has always infuriated me
  9. you are only allowed to view it in the US, its Youtube license doesn't extend to the UK.
  10. what are you guys on about???, it's a stormer of a 45, an absolute killer.
  11. you're allowed to sell them, you just have to sell them at the old Soul Bowl price & not profit off them by selling them at the current going rate.
  12. I didn't know until after he had got them out, researched them & was telling/showing me in person, I doubt they would have been for sale anyway as he's still into soul 45s.
  13. yeah, a guy I DJ with dragged the remnants of his soul packs out of his attic last year, all records that were deemed crap at the time, let's just say that a fair few of them have got a lot less crappy & more valuable since he put them away in the 70s
  14. you need to get your ebay game going, a copy went for around $40 last year. great 45.
  15. I remember being really bummed out when i blind bought my first country 45 (not good country) on Chess.
  16. if you diss country you diss yourself...... i actually like a lot of country stuff, i will defend good country, but agree that bad country is terribly terrible.
  17. this week's show, small Bobby Purify tribute at the start https://www.ustream.tv/recorded/19629901
  18. I think it's just a borrowed picture, searching for Sam Dees The Show Must Go On on google & the same shot with ringwear turns up all over the show.
  19. those are just burnt bootleg copies, not really recommended. you can get the licensed, much more complete real ones in all 6 volumes from Bear Family in excellent sound & picture quality with extensive liner notes & great packaging. https://www.bear-family.de/cd-dvd-series/the-beat/?lang=1
  20. he actually reminds me a bit of Jackie Wilson to look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5-bxe_yIwU dig Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Johnny Jones & Billy Cox in the backing band
  21. Jimmy Church was out of Nashville, started out in The Seniors on Excello along with Bobby Hebb. Then he was in The Hi-Fi's on Montel. Sang with Johnny Otis for a spell in LA. Was also vocalist for the King Casuals' in their Jimi Hendrix era. Later fronted his own revue which also featured Frank Howard & The Commanders among others. He has solo 45s on Hickory, Okeh, SS7, Hermitage, Peachtree etc. The best footage of him is on The Beat DVDs. Still going & available for bookings on the wedding singer/bar mitsvah circuit in the mid-south. https://www.thejimmychurchband.com/
  22. seller could be mistaken & it might actually be an original? when you get the LP let us know. it might be one of those done by Scorpio who reissue vinyl but not CDs.
