This old chestnut has been a bone of contention for me for sometime, 30 minute sets waste of time, what? you can play about 12 records, 45 minutes not much better maybe 15 records if your lucky, an hour if you're on a buzzing spot can also fly past all too quickly, 90 minutes is the real deal for me, you can really get into it and if there were perhaps less DJ's on at some events this could be worked in, get them to do longer sets, play to their potential, give it some thought and a little depth...oh and a decent fee....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  2. £25.00 agree with Shane but try finding one not as easy as the price would suggest, as stated ben around years but never really got that much turntable action, perfect for today's gigs well worth a play. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  3. Top record Shane...more records like this need playing on a far more regular basis at the gigs i reckon, quality simply quality. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  4. Make me an offer have a good condition copy here, contact bicknellmark@aol.com £400.00 yes please and thank you. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  5. Mick, I'll call you over the next few days to arrange things for the show, yeh Heartbreakers pheww that was a close call got it pretty quickly......now everyone wants one....lol 'Drifting' sorry mate 'I'l Keep It To Myself'.......lol Mark Bicknell.
  6. Another Friday night and i find myself upstairs again messing about with the bootlegs...lol I would just like to add this one in the mix here as i think this very much underplayed record is about to explode on the Northern scene............ Claude "Baby" Huey - Drifting -M.I.O.B. 1283 - Part of the Fantasy/Galaxy set up this Ozz Osborne song and production is simply so right for the current scene, perfect pace, crunching vocal from a man who has supplied the scene with a handful of beautiful records including another superb release from M.I.O.B. 1281 - 'Keep It To Myself' which is also worthy of a play or two at the gigs, the ultra cool R'n'B style cut for Early Bird 49654 - 'Feel Good All Over' and the superb Galaxy release 'Why Would You Blow It' - Galaxy 768 which of course has been a pretty big record on the scene in recent years played by the likes of Bob Hinsley, Ginger Taylor, myself from time to time and others. All these records have been pretty popular with collectors over the years but 'Drifting' stands out possibly to be the one that has been somewhat overlooked until now, you were able to pick this one up a few years ago for just a few pounds but i would instantly value this at an easy £100.00 plus record as copies seem to be hard to locate, just ask my good friend Mick Howard and he will confirm this, with a few more plays this semi known oldie will catch on proving that the M.I.O.B. had it so right.....Music Is Our Business oh and ours because this is an awesome record which i'm sure many of you on here will confirm. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

  19. Cheers Mike.....minefield this record lark ain't it....lol, just need to be sure these days as i'm thinking of selling to get a few new things and the money has really little to do with it apart from having enough to cover the new buys that is....lol Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  20. Same story Mark with a lot of records, quantity just means more people can get a copy...lol still as we both know if a record is of a quality it matters very little how many copies there are out there does it??? Mark Bicknell.
  21. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on the current value/prices on a couple of things Major Harris - Call Me Tomorrow - Okeh stock/issue - Super clean condition. Herb Ward - Honest To Goodness - RCA Demo - As above super Clean condition. Martell's - Where Can My Baby Be - A-La-Carte- Again super condition. Arin Demain - Silent Treatment - Blue Star Demo - Again super clean condition. Retail prices would be good rather than dealer prices, if you have any ideas please post or contact bicknellmark@aol.com Regards - Mark Bicknell.
  22. Check out The Exsaveyons - I Don't Love You No More - Smoke 600 - George Blackwell's Newark, New Jersey based company famous of course for his Northern classic 'Can't Lose My Head', this record has always been pretty common but very much overlooked in my mind, if it was one of the more hard to finds it's quality suggests four figures to me, again another record played during the sixties newie boom of the early 80's this should have been a monster, up the in production and style to the likes of The Montclairs on Arch for example so you get the picture, seen this for as little as £8.00 recently but will sky rocket once copies circulate, a record which i'm sure one or two of the major dealers would have stock of but i might be wrong? The Companions - "Be Yourself" - General American 711 - I've always loved this record out of Philadelphia, never been much more than twenty quid far less than the Honey And The Bee's version but equal in quality, an instant record that again has it all for me, possibly considered too much of an oldie to really become big on the current scene but well worth a mention here and the odd spin out and about at the gigs. Regards - Mark Bicknell.
