When Did We Start With Ovo
There certainly was a fuss about Levine's acetates being played, but I thought the originals only rule had begun before that particular incident Steve. I may be wrong, I was 17 at the time and very impressionable!

Jades - Hotter Than Fire/snatch N Grab It
Wasn't the Virtue copy a re-issue of some sort via Soul Bowl?

When Did We Start With Ovo
Mary & Colin Chapman had an ovo policy at the Cleethorpes pier back in early '75. I seem to recall one of the dj's being sacked for playing an emidisc. Others might know more, Ian D was one of the 'stars' of Clee in the early days, perhaps he can recall how strictly she enforced the rule?

Maurice & The Radiants - You've Been Cheating - Great Video
Miming? are they miming? Hilarious and fascinating, you can't imagine growing up and having these guys appearing on your tv can you? Well unless you are american of course! Great contributions, love 'em! Nice to see they made the go-go dancer do 'Barefootin' without shoes - you can't beat attention to detail like that can you? And while I'm at it, Happy New Year Dave!

Frankie Beverly "this Is Just A B-Side"
I think it is just some meandering piano track if I remember rightly - I would have definitely remembered if there had been an instrumental of "If that's what you wanted" on the flip! Haven't owned that copy since the late 70's though, so I may be wrong about 'meandering piano' though...

Cooperettes
By the time I sold up I had acquired quite a few Canadian - Ben Aiken "Satisfied" on an orange Warner Bros was my favourite. Just looked so nice!

Little Eddie Taylor And Silohettes
I love that photo of 'Little' Eddie Taylor - if only we had had the internet in 1974! I'm not sure if it is worth mentioning, but, whoever did the boots with the blank labels also did a 'Sky disc' copy of Timothy Wilson using the same stampers. Fairly sur eits common knowledge but I thought it might stand a mention.

Mary Wells On Jubilee
To my shame I had never heard any of her Jubilee recordings. So, many thanks for drawing them to my attention - I shall be digging around this weekend for sure. I have to say that I was surprised to see the Womacks on production - if that track is indicative o fthe sound they created for Mary it was clearly a template for stuff they later recorded themselves as artists.

O T Sykes - Stone Crush On You
Didn't know that, and sadly I don't have it now. I think it was something like "This loneliness inside of me" or something similar?

John Manships Auction Results 12-12-2012
After seeing several items here that are the same as I sold to John Anderson, it set me to wondering who owned them now - things like the Canadian "The Larue", the De-Lites etc. Or anything as far as it goes... If you own any and you don't mind letting me know (via pm if you prefer) I would be very appreciative. regards, RB

Short Sets?
Fair enough Kev, probably best left eh? No one wants to fall out!

Short Sets?
Thanks for quoting me KevH, I fully understand my opinions aren't always popular (and they never were), but back in the 'good old days' (I think that's irony?) I don't think a promoter would ever ask a dj to do 30 minutes. I would also like to say, that I made no reference to 'decent' dj's as cited in your later post (not that you implied I did, but clarity and all that), I wouldn't be qualified to make that judgment. And Toads point about "too many dj's" seems fairly relevant to me, though I think an hour is enough eh? The world has clearly turned since I was an active member of the scene, and in truth, who cares what I think! Even I don't...

Short Sets?
Never done a spot of less than an hour - what would be the point - just to get behind a pair of decks?

Oscar Perry Ive Got What You Need
Probably on the flip of one of his others Peter - when I recorded them to put on itunes I didn't note that very important piece of info - just have a bunch of random OP tracks! I don't think I have heard anything by him I didn't like though. best, RB Wished I had taken my own advice more often!
-
Herbert Hunter - I Was Born To Love You
Well my memory isn't what it was either Arthur - and my knowledge was never up to much!

Oscar Perry Ive Got What You Need
Don't forget the flips Peter, some lovely stuff. Isn't "Come on home" on the flip of "Main string"? Top drawer!
