  1. This is the only Deloris Ealy 45 I can find on Ebay at the moment - https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROBERT-CARDWELL-and-his-SOUL-SEARCHERS-BAND-45rpm-7-VELVET-DELORIS-EALY-/200849700142?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2ec393352e That isn't "I've Been Searching"?
  2. Brad Lundy is one of my all time faves. I know what Pete means about the sound quality, sadly. Prefer Brad's rich tones to Deena Johnson, but that record is a beauty too. Wonderful song..............talk about beat ballads vs funky Northern, eh??
  3. Steelers is a 'steal' ( ) at that price. Tempted myself just to sit on it................
  4. Prefer the Brad Lundy version myself - richer vocal Malc.
  5. Always reminds me of Randy Cozens, 5a.m.-ish at the 100 Club, early 80s.
  6. I think you mean verses in this context Mr S............
  7. I get nervous whenever I go to the Post Office sorting centre to pick up record packages and notice them pulling on their rubber gloves................
  8. Ouch. One way to get this thread closed down........
  9. Absolutely Pete. FOlk on SS often post up about extremely rare items coming up for sale - FB on Rouser is quite an event in our exciting little world of rare soul. Reason enough to post something.
  10. Very nice. Up there with their other records.
  11. If it's true Jim, then a couple of questions for you (1) when was the last time you saw it for sale? (2) how come it went for £300 (or thereabouts) on here last time a couple turned up, corrobarated by Soul-Slider who said he had to turn in 3 ton worth of trades to get it 7 years ago and Clarkie sold one for 2 ton cash back then too? Added to which, I think JM had it on his site last year @ £300 which has gone, Steve Jefferies had it at the same price - gone. Paul - like Boba says, it's a tough item and it's worth three hundred sovs mate.
  12. Like I said....................................
  13. Rare record (and top top drawer Chicago group soul IMHO). Couple went off this site last year for £300, or thereabouts. I'm sure there are folk that will pile in saying stuff like "anyone paying more than a fiver needs their head examined", "couldn't give them away back in the day", "I had a boxload and couldn't sell them", "nice record, but not that good" etc etc etc
  14. Not at all, really easy to play the other side, just the wrong other side..........
  15. What about Pete French?
  16. Was indeed big for Dave Flynn at the Dome and then picked up the niter jocks, most notably Kenny Burrell. Was it not originally a USA advert jingle for Kellogs Cornflakes, or was that an apochryphal story?
  17. Never noticed the error of syntax before now, but what a classic misuse of the apostrophe!!
  18. Out of my league price wise, but that seems a good price compared to some frankly lesser 45s (in terms of quality and proven rarity). Hope it finds a good home very soon.
  19. Look to be from early 80s - say, 1983-84ish? Judging by the prices and some of the listings. Guitar Ray @ a fiver - FFS!! Gene Redding "I Need Your Loving" listed as "deep soul" - at what point did it become "crossover"? Really interesting. Thanks for posting.
  20. This was done before I think. If I recall one of the US collectors on here advised that David & Ruben was issued by Warners which has acquired the Linda catalogue to cash in on the Motown/soul sound but, whilst the record was thought to have potential, theiconic intro was cut off because it sounded 'dated' and harked back to the doo-wop era. I can't recall why they changed the name - probably a similar reason, to disassociate the record from a bygone age and because male soul duos were fashionable by then, like Sam & Dave? That's probably a complete load of old horse poo, dreamt up by me. The Rampart issue must be the rarest format by the way?
