Just looking on the websit at buying tickets and looking through the Ensemble cast I see one Marva Hicks? Anybody planning on going to this from UK?
-
Does anybody want this? $20 all in. The label has all the right signs, Sidrian Music, Sound Inc, Detroit, Mich etc etc. THIS IS NOT A SOUL 45.

We moved house October 2010 and down sized 50% at least. We sold lots of furniture, bits and bobs as we did not have the room and I must have also cleaned out 3 -4000 45's, cheap Northern, Reggae, mainstream Soul. Used most of the money to help fund the reno we are doing but have also treated myself to some nice bits now and again. Never been one for albums but do have a box of stuff with un-issued Northern on them, Rufus Lumley, The Outsiders, The Tempests etc that I have managed to pick up reasonably cheaply at Record Shows. Probably only have 2-3000 45's now My problem is I cannot pass a cheap Northern or Motown 45 at a show so am always coming home with another copy of Winstons, Supremes, Flirtations etc etc etc but the bottom is falling right out of the cheaper stuff with the shipping costs from North America (but that is a separate subject). I know what 15000 looks like as I bought that many back in late 2009, I was exhausted by time I got them in the car (3 trips in a CRV), out of the car into the house, then into the record room. Absolutely great fun going up there every night with some wine, record cleaner and just playing through boxes of 45's of all genres, Country, Doo Wop, New Wave, Reggae, Rock and Roll, Canadian private press stuff . Down to the last 3 boxes of mainstream Soul stuff now - Stax, Atlantic, Philly etc etc

The Kittens on ABC off here - have to confess I only heard it for the first time a week or so ago. Couple of cheap Stateside demos off ebay - Alvin Cash and lee Dorsey Charity shop on Monday on the way home - Nancy Ames - I Dont Want To Talk About It - Canadian Epic - 99c

OK, what other Yesteryear's should we be looking out for. Local Charity Shop had a whole stack of them a few months ago, 99c each? I do not think I have ever bought one

Theoretically Canadian should be rarer as the population difference is so vast, the population of Canada is still only around 35 million compared to the US - discuss. -

You will have to excuse as I do not have a scanner. I also have a few Canadian only Soul 45's by Jackie Shane on Paragon, Frank Motley on Arc and also have the Jack Harden that was posted previously. I will add more as I can get to the boxes but here are half a dozen: -

I have only found 3 Detroit 45's on the red Canadian Ric Tic label, in fact one went through ebay the other and sold for $8, sold by a local dealer, he also has a Little Charles up at the moment. All my 45's are boxed up at the moment so I am unable to add any scans. I will grab the stuff I have bought recently and see if there any Canadian 45's worth scanning. -
Thanks Dave Just what I needed, may have to spring for another night. I will have Mil bending my ear at some point but I will be happy to have a mooch around for a couple of hours. Kevin

Hi All Off to Windsor on 18th to see the Temps and going to make a weekend of it as I have a birthday pass. We will be going to Hitsville on Saturday morning and going to Peoples at some point in the day. I also found the following stores on google, any feedback: Record Graveyard, Hamtramck - I know about his ebay stuff Shantique Music, Harper Avenue Record Collector, Ferndale Damons Record Center, Plymouth Road Not expecting to find anything cheap but if I can eliminate the dead losses in advance it would help.

Hi I do not think it came out on this label version. I see these quite regularly but on the blue Motown label. The only difference from the US would be the Canadian address around the bottom of the label. I would be interested if anyone has a copy of the rquested copy? If you want the blue label version I think I have one spare -

Dolly Gilmore-Dove/canadian 'right On' ?

Sammy Gaha - found one at a record show in Toronto and bought it just because of the UK Right On label, was very shocked to discover its value and moved it on sharpish. There is also a couple of right stinkers on the Canadian label but they have slipped my mind -
We spent 20 minutes listening and talking to one bunch of singers last time I was there. One of them told a sorry tale of fame, money, drugs and prison. He said he had been (and unfortunately my memory is a bit sketchy here) either a Delfonic or a Persuader. Either way, they did some great covers including a brilliant Hurt by the Manhattans. I think the wife might still have it on her BB and will get her to have a look.

There was someone selling mint unplayed demos on ebay not long ago - got one for $16. Still have not played it!! -
I was looking at the Dig Deeper site (might as well make a weekend of it ) but I do not see any 2013 dates there?
-
Was looking at the website yesterday, they are currently running auditions. I believe it starts in March and we are planning to go down to see it.
-
Saw these guys Sunday night, great show, Ron Tyson in great vocal form. A great version of Stay included which was a bit of a surprise!! Got an on-line offer, $30 a ticket!! Am now contemplating a drive to Windsor to see Dennis Edwards and his version ot the Temps - anyone know who else is in this group? A few years ago we saw Richard Street and his lot, how many groups are there out there? Kevin
-
I was at a show on Sunday and a dealer I had some modest success with in the past had suddenly marked up all his common Northern and Motown stuf. When I asked him about the prices he pulled out Tim/Martins guide!! I subsequently put my handful of 45's away and wished him luck. I can count the Soul/Northern collectors in my area on one finger so I did not see any benefit to him doing this, 45's are just going to sit there now.

I have a Canadian copy of Come On Home if you want to make an offer. Unfortunately you will have to add $20 for international shipping from Canada.
